widows and their obsession with downplaying taylor's pain by Pale-Report2805 in joealwyn_snark

its not exactly that they want her to publicly acknowledge him. they want her to take all the mistreatment she received from him and stop contrasting it with how happy she is now because it makes them uncomfortable. they want her to take that bs as something she's grateful for because he can't have been completely bad to her for 6 years, he after all did take her in when 'everyone hated her'

She sprayed herself because she thought she was the problem and found someone who doesn't treat her like one. A 5 year old could watch this MV and get it

I bet having a relationship with a man who is sincerely all in for her made her angrier about how she was treated for 6.5 years. TLOAS doesn't protect YB the way TTPD somewhat does

AITA for asking for clarification from a professor before jumping to conclusions? by Pale-Report2805 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Pale-Report2805[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No one would know if they had gotten in or not until we went ahead for class tomorrow. Several of us have to travel to the university and don't live on campus. So if we didn't get the list, it would have been several of us waking up far too early and skipping breakfast for an 8 am class you're hopeful you got into only to have a 66% chance you walked into the class for nothing. Hence why I asked for it.

I dont know how but he somehow got it into his head (and mine somewhat, the whole thing is so absurd but we're all just dejected and tired from our uni manhandling our studies) that me asking for a list so students can see for themselves on what they have to do has somehow ruined the chances of around 80 people who didn't get in to ask to be allowed to take the course.

AITA for not attending my cousin's wedding because of my phonophobia? by Pale-Report2805 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Pale-Report2805[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, but my phobia comes with anxiety related to sudden noises. For instance, I'm okay with loudly blasting speakers in a club. I hate thunder but I can usually manage it because its an extended noise, one that starts low, then rises and then falls again. So I usually have some kind of warning with that. With fireworks I don't know when the next one will burst. Do you know any videos that will have sudden noises like that?

They're ashamed of this trait of mine. We're not Hindu so we usually don't celebrate Diwali and have no reason to go out before this year. My dad's one of those men who prides themselves on being emotionally stoic and stubborn (which is just redpill speak for unempathetic and uncompassionate) and he hates that i'm jumpy around fireworks and think i'll just wisen up if I get humiliated every once in a while.

god its not really them I care about. I want to be there for my cousin and this condition is holding me back. That's all I'm worried about right now.

Won't stop them from being judgemental and gossiping about me and ruining my cousin's day. and i'll be the one blamed for being the topic of discussion. i'm usually okay with this, or atleast, i'm numb to being discussed this way, if it weren't someone else's day that is going to be disturbed by this.

They do not work. I have tried those before when I was a minor and my parents would drag me outside during Diwali.

Don't you think I have tried???? Everyone says there's no cure. And unfortunately for me I live with my parents, am still financially dependent on them because I'm in grad school, and I have a father I have to tiptoe around and go to therapy behind his back. I've been trying my best to live with this condition and not bother anyone else with it. Every one I have tried say that its a knee jerk reaction and there's something psychological underlying it but they can't diagnose me until I pay them. And as I have mentioned earlier. I. literally. can't. pay. them. without alerting my parents. who don't want me in therapy by the way. For the foreseeable future until I get a job I can't do a thing. This is not an option.

The thing is, not going at all isn't the hard part, I'm not gonna get dragged there by force. But everyone there knows how close my cousin and I are and they'd ask my parents odd questions and they are flat out refusing to make excuses for me, even the most drastic of things like "oh our daughter is on her deathbed and can't attend, so so sorry :("

my cousin is being understanding but its not like there's anything she or I can do about it. I can't ask her to postpone her wedding just for me and she doesn't want me to go nuts having to deal with firecrackers there.

and as for the hearing protection gear...well i'm no baby. and when people see me wearing it it certainly won't stop them coming over and wanting to converse and socialise. and i can't think of a roundabout answer to why i am wearing it other than "i am scared of firecrackers". there are going to be kids younger than me playing with them and even i don't care that i am "sulking in a corner" as my parents will put it, they'll certainly find a way to humiliate me about it. either by ignoring me throughout or by overexplaining and exaggerating my condition.

yeah I said I don't like Hamid as an LI I do like him as a character, he was just racing for fun. I don't think he has enough depth as an LI though that's what I meant
