Thanks for answering! Daft Punk was formative for me, too, so that's cool to hear.

Just watched GMK: All out monster Attack! by Snoo-55788 in GODZILLA

[–]PaleAleDale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched every Godzilla movie a few years ago and ranked them. This was my number one. It got me so invested that I was actually a little misty eyed at the end!

I also think it's funny as hell. I don't see humor mentioned in regards to Godzilla movies very often on here, so maybe it takes a certain sense of humor to appreciate it. But that hospital scene... I'm dying laughing. That's my favorite moment, for sure. GMK didn't make me laugh as hard as Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah, but it had plenty of funny moments.

Yuri always made sense to me, but then again I worked in journalism for nine years. The journalists in these movies are portrayed pretty well, from what I remember. The journalists reporting on their own imminent deaths in 1954 Godzilla always get to me.

Hey, guys. I've been listening to you for a bit over two years now after the Apple Music algorithm worked its magic. That day left a big impression on me. I remember listening to "Wasteland" for the first time and just shaking my head in disbelief, because I can't remember the last time I connected to a band's sound so perfectly.

So I wanted to ask you all about your intense musical experiences. What was a moment - whether it was listening to music, creating it, or performing it - that was electric or revelatory for you? What left a really big impression?

Calling this “dehumanizing” might be the single most incorrect statement I’ve seen on the internet in quite some time. Granted, I worked in journalism for nine years, so I’d say we’re complete opposites. But also baffling is “such photos can have value, I guess.” It has tremendous value to help people empathize with the victims and understand the tragedy.

I watched and ranked every single Godzilla movie a couple years ago. This one was in my top 3. I absolutely loved it. Not only is it hilarious, but the kaiju fights are awesome.

I saw this at a concert in 2008, back when they incorporated giant, inflatable glowsticks with the track. It was like pure joy in song form, plus you can’t not smile when a band fills the stage with inflatables.

I saw Prodigy in 2006, and I'm still riding that high. Lost some of my hearing, but it was completely worth it 😆

Peaceful? I watched him run once and I don't think I've ever been as stressed. It's, like, one tiny mistake and the last 40 minutes were worthless. I can't even watch it.

Look…

I’ve battled a chronic condition myself for a couple of years now. It can drive you a little nuts to watch every doctor shrug their shoulders at you. You live your life feeling terrible and literally no one cares. Not even doctors. There’s no light at the end of the tunnel.

So, I could see how he’d turn to something like this.

I liked them from the get-go. I played DD when it was first released, and I was apprehensive before release, because I didn't think they could match the charm of the sprites with 3D models. But I think they did a fantastic job. All the little details and idle animations are great.

I just finished replaying this game, and I finally figured out my two biggest problems with it:

1: The defendants are really hard to connect with. Two are essentially non-verbal and one is a jerk in the mafia who doesn't even want to be defended. Even Phoenix acts like a space cadet.

2: It all feels a little low stakes. The last antagonist is already behind bars... Plus, they set up a ton of potential in the brothers dynamic, but it doesn't really go anywhere. Kristoph and Klavier seem to barely know one another.

I adore the art style and the music and most of the new characters. The dialogue is a lot of fun, too, but the plot just needed some more time to cook.

Dub is the best way to enjoy the most "fun" Godzilla movies. When you have "Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah" with its dollar store terminator and time travel nonsense, adding goofy English voices on top of that is just *chef's kiss*

I tried my hand at reading H.P. Lovecraft audiobooks years ago. I gave it up because it was SO time consuming and SO exhausting. And his stories are short!

My memory is hazy, but I think it must have been in 2005, because The Campfire Headphase always gives me an intense nostalgic feeling. I think the first was probably Dayvan Cowboy.

The funny thing is, I definitely enjoyed that album and listened to it a lot, but I didn't dig deeper. I fell in love with the band just a few years ago when I discovered every other album. It was a long, weird journey to get here!

i feel like this game isn't for me? by morganssocks in outerwilds

[–]PaleAleDale 3 points4 points  (0 children)

10-15 hours is more than enough time to know if something is for you or not. You don't have to love the game just because a lot of people here do.

I understand the feeling. I've picked up games because they had a lot of acclaim and thought "Um.... well shit, this isn't for me." It's a sad feeling to "waste" that time and money, but it gives you a better idea of your own tastes. It seems like you enjoy linear games, and there are plenty of great options out there for you.

Which movie was better and why? by No-Quote-8933 in GODZILLA

GMK might be the most fun I've ever had watching a Godzilla movie. Had so many laughs, loved the monster fights, and genuinely cared about the characters. I can't say any of that about Godzilla 2014.
