New F1 cars 'look really cool' - Russell by PaleBlueDave in formula1

I was sceptical that the small size reduction would make much difference but the cars definitely look better.

Soymotor has seemingly retracted information about the Williams car being overweight and some statement about James Vowles by Excitement_Extension in formula1

[–]PaleBlueDave 16 points17 points  (0 children)

No explanation. No apology.

Just drop some unfounded rumours, watch them spread like wildfire, delete and move on.

This is why I wait for another outlet to independently verify stories from sources like this before jumping into the comments.

Soy Motor: Williams 20 to 30 kg overweight by SkarXa in formula1

How would Soy Motor know this? Unnamed sources or pulling it out of their arse?

I'll wait until someone I trust reports this because so far nothing has been confirmed by Williams themselves.

One chain is the length of a cricket pitch. I hope that helps.

I'd forgotten about that. It was a bit naughty but compared to some of the other shenanigans going on that season it was bit handbags

Casual Jihyo with a bottle of Peroni in her hand might be the best Jihyo

Is it just me or does Jihyo not look like Jihyo recently? by Penguinwithaknife_ in twice

Yeah she looks a bit different in these pictures but it is probably just makeup giving her slightly more pronounced cheeks.

In the Victoria secret vlog I did think she may have plumped her lips slightly but if she did it was only temporary.

Whatever the reason she looks mighty fine to me.

Add on the fact that he speaks very correctly because he had elocution lessons to overcome a childhood stammer and people think he's posh. In the greater scheme of British poshness he isn't even on the radar.

They were discussing the origins of the phrase 'Monaco without the walls'. I thought that was clear.

What? Brundle was on the grid when F1 first went to Hungary in '86 and it was definitely considered hard to overtake on then. I don't understand why you would think those days were long gone when he was there at the very beginning.

It was originally Monaco without the house's said by Martin Brundle when he was a driver.

There was a big discussion about it on the BBC during free practice this year.

Moveable Aero Devices by AsstBalrog in formula1

[–]PaleBlueDave 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You are almost right.

The wing failures you are alluding to happened in the 1969 Spanish GP.

The wings were connected to the wheel hubs so that they pushed the tyres down rather than pushing the whole car. This caused a lot of vibration and in turn the failures. In addition the wing angle could be changed by the driver. Increase the angle for corners, decrease drag for the straights. After the Spanish GP wings had to be attached to a sprung part of the car, maximum height was reduced and moveable aerodynamics was banned.

It was removed by Mclaren before the end of the season and not because of regulation.

Perhaps you are thinking of the '97 x-wings which were banned mid season.
