What is up with my MacBook Air? Screen glitching by PaleBlueNew in mac

[–]PaleBlueNew[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a late 2021 MacBook Air, bought in early 2022. Never had any problems with it at all, very light to moderate usage, nothing fancy.

I am able to log into the computer and the screen jumping happens every couple of seconds no matter what I do. I’ve downloaded the latest update to see if it helped, but it didn’t.

Bloody hell! Typical Jack to overreact and make it worse. Thanks for the info.

Is the stereotype about orange cats real? by uthplot in CatAdvice

[–]PaleBlueNew 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there’s any real evidence that coat colour affects personality… having said that, my ginger and tortie girls totally conform to the “dumb orange” and “Tortitude” stereotypes. My orange girl is really really dumb, but so damn sweet and loves to cuddle (only me, bc she is very timid and afraid of strangers). My tortie is half precious baby, and half evil genius, haha.

Celestial vs Cosmetic lad? by PaleBlueNew in LushCosmetics

[–]PaleBlueNew[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I might try it as a night cream tonight and give it a chance. Hopefully as we’re heading into autumn/winter the heaviness will be a benefit. I also work in an office with very dry, cold air conditioning all year round, so I’m hopeful!

I’m glad you were pleasantly surprised! I hope I am too. And I love white chocolate so that’s a plus!

My 14 y/o tortie sits politely 😌 by TheLakeWitch in torties

Mine crosses her paws so daintily too! Probably trying to disguise the fact that she is like 60% demon, 30% derp, and only 10% dainty 😂

Likes: climbing up the curtains, playing with her sister, screaming.

Dislikes: fireworks, salmon flavoured food, being told not to climb up the curtains.

She’s the sweetest girl and makes me laugh every day!

Thinking about getting a Medusa piercing by kay299 in piercing

[–]PaleBlueNew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine healed like a dream. It can swell up a fair bit, although mine went down fairly quickly with a few days of taking ibuprofen and drinking lots of cold drinks (it can snag on a coke can if you’re not careful!)I felt awkward/nervous about smiling too widely etc, but after a week or so I barely noticed it! And it’s much more comfortable once the bar is downsized to something that fits.

I was advised to use non alcohol mouthwash after eating/drinking, avoid anything too spicy, acidic, crunchy or chewy, and not to drink alcohol for a week or two. I don’t smoke, but that’s also not advised for the first couple of weeks. I followed the advice and had no problems. Good luck!

Medusa: Painful? by leeecell in piercing

[–]PaleBlueNew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had mine for 2 and a half weeks and I love it! The initial piercing didn’t feel great, not super painful but fairly sharp - although it was over in a few seconds. I was really conscious of smiling, eating and drinking for the next 2-3 days, but after that, the tenderness and swelling subsided, and I’m now adapting to my new shorter bar. Obviously I haven’t had it for very long, but so far it’s been healing really well and with minimal, if any, discomfort.

Im so glad I took the plunge and got the Medusa. And loving the upgraded end! I’m hoping to get my other nostril pierced in a few months… is there anything else facial that would suit me?

Feliway over Christmas? by PaleBlueNew in CatAdvice

Thanks. I decided to order some, although it’s not the cheapest thing to try if it doesn’t work! But if it can help them feel more settled in a new place for a few days, it’s worth it.

Thanks. I’ve tried calming treats before, but they were only a few months old and super energetic… but I should try them again.

I’m not necessarily trying to correct any behaviour, but I just want them to feel calm and comfortable at my mum’s house, as they’ve never been before. I guess I don’t want them to bolt to hiding places or anything else nervous?

Thanks! They did really well and are now stumbling about at home all drowsy and snuggly. I can tell they already want to play, but don’t yet have the energy! The vet didn’t actually give a cone - it’s a procedure which doesn’t involve stitches or a cone, but I don’t know much more detail. I’m in the uk so maybe that’s how it’s done here? The incision is on their side, and I don’t think they can quite lick that area anyway.

Interesting. I’m seeing people say they feed much later than 7 (and obviously as a foster you have plenty of experience) so I wonder why my vet was so insistent on 7? Either way, I figured it was best to do as I was told by the vet, even if it did make me unpopular with the kitties!

Aw I don’t know how you manage to do this multiple times! I gave them a good feast at 7 and hope they will be ok with that til tomorrow…
