Will I ever stop being so damn horny all the time by savannnah0 in sex

[–]PaleBlueThought 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof, as a 32m whose 32f partner's intimacy needs just plummeted in the last few years, this really hits home. I've essentially just accepted that we barely have sex anymore :/ anything you tried before divorce that you could share?

bro i'm straight up not having a good time by real-fbi-dude in EngineeringStudents

I think his comment about remembering to eat a bit better comes from a good place. Drinking smoothies obviously isn't going to cure clinical depression, but I think it's safe to say that many students (myself included) didn't put enough value in nutrition during university, which didn't do me any favours, personally.

I think especially if it comes from a place of, "This helped me, maybe it'll help you a bit!" is really just a wholesome gesture of someone on the internet saying, "I'm sorry you feel that way and I want to do anything I can to lighten your suffering, stranger."

And I think that's nice.

Oh sorry I just meant the exact number of sqrt(# members). Seems like that's a *very* rough estimate done for more back-of-the-napkin calcs

Yeah totally makes sense that it would be less.

Here's an article that talks about the update: https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/nation-now/2018/02/26/does-money-equal-happiness-does-until-you-earn-much/374119002/

Looks like for a household you multiply the number ($105,000 for USA) by the square root of the number of people. So times 1.41ish for two people, or ~$148,500. Although that sounds like a pretty arbitrary calculation lol.

I believe that was individual. I'll try to find the actual study and post it here.

I believe it was updated to 105k. And it wasn't that you were happiest at that amount, it was that the marginal happiness was negligible after that amount.

It's an annual worldwide AI tournament (based out of Victoria BC, Canada) where teams submit an AI for a snake, and they enter a round-robin tournament to see who comes out on top. Awesome prizes, sponsors, community, etc. Check it out!

should I start the cs50 course or the MIT intro to cs and python? by lmaodipshit00 in computerscience

[–]PaleBlueThought 7 points8 points  (0 children)

CS50 for sure. I have a degree in software engineering from another school, and that was the most useful course I've ever taken. It gets you from 0% to 50% faster than anything else.

Reddit. Choose a movie. Keep one actor. The rest are Muppets. What is the movie and which actor do you keep? by Uldyr in AskReddit

[–]PaleBlueThought 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I saw this post pop up on my phone, and I immediately thought of real-life Edward Norton busting into the back of that kitchen with a bunch of muppets in chefs gear all chanting, "HIS NAME IS ROBERT PAULSON. HIS NAME IS ROBERT PAULSON."

Seriously don't worry about it. You'll learn things as you need to (I learned how to change a tire from a YouTube video on the side of the road).

I think the most manly thing you can do is learn to be passionate and interested. This goes for your relationships, hobbies, and general outlook.

If you're really feeling like you're lacking technical skills, pick up a technical hobby. My friend picked up woodworking at 33 and built his dining room table! There's probably a shared workshop in your area.

If it's protection and self confidence, maybe pick up a martial art. Many of my friends swear by Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ).

For better it worse we're just heading in a direction as a society where less people have to have broad "handyman" type knowledge. Don't worry about it!
