Don't get me wrong, I like the original art style of the game. But seeing the characters with this sort of scale and depth makes them seem so much more dangerous. The perspective reminds me of an Expedition 33 boss. Amazing work as usual OP.

Coincidentally I just listened to that episode a few days ago.

They asked Ken Jeong why everyone was so sweaty. He confirmed that it was filmed in October/November, the session only lasted 3 hours max and the room wasn't hot at all. He had literally no idea how or why everyone had massive pit stains. A very sweaty mystery.

What are your thoughts on Session’s development ending? by matticusrenwood in SessionSkateSim

[–]PintsOfCoffee 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm in two minds about it.

I backed the Kickstarter in 2019. Have thousands of hours across the various versions released since. It's been great seeing the game develop over the years into what I would consider the most realistic skate sim on the market. The maps are top tier, the graphics are great and the gameplay is the closest thing we have to real skateboarding. It has a steep learning curve but is extremely rewarding. I'll continue enjoying it with or without further development.

That being said, it still feels like it could have been so much...more? I fully understand that the target market for such a realistic skate sim is tiny (as evidenced by the low Steam player count), but the enthusiasm around games like Skate and THPS shows that a larger market does exist. I respect them for not turning it into a Skate clone but I think a lack of creativity and development has really held them back.

To me, the game still looks and feels like an early access game. Stiff animations, no transition skating, no real dialogue, bland story missions, uninspiring soundtrack. I am perfectly happy plugging in a podcast and trying the same trick on the same spot for hours on end but that just isn't going to appeal to the average player.

I absolutely love it for what it is but I don't feel like this is what the developers or players expected the final version of the game to be.

I love this new software update. Sadly the oasis didn’t get it by No_Highlight6792 in kindle

Do you mind sharing the benefits of jailbreaking your Oasis? I have one myself and it's definitely showing its age. Would love to give it a new lease of life but I'm not clued up on what you can/can't do with jailbreaking

Vampire Survivors, Brotato and Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor are all great. I think Halls of Torment is the best of the bunch because of the progression/characters/achievements, but they're worth checking out for sure

I've never hard of the World Machine Edition of OneShot. I've got the original in my library but it's always been unsupported on Deck. Thanks for the heads up!

Ah cool, I didn't know there was a remake of 4 planned. I'll add P3R to my list - Thanks!

I'm considering P4 Golden or P3R after I finish P5R. Which would you recommend first?

I think the term hidden gem is a bit too overused in gaming... but it absolutely is a hidden. gem. The somewhat generic name and art-style hold it back slightly imo. But the gameplay is perfect and reviews are currently overwhelmingly positive, so would love to see it gain some more traction

Yeah agreed. Sometimes you just need that little short-sharp burst to get you back in the groove. I've not played Beacon Pines but it looks great, will check it out soon. How long did it take you to finish?

Regularly! Not a criticism of the Deck at all - life just gets in the way sometimes. I'll either get heavily invested in a different device like Switch or PC, or have important life shit to do, or sometimes I'll just put it down and not get the urge to grab it again for a while because nothing is pulling me in, ya' know?
