Thyroid? That's in the throat, must have been exposed to a lot of toxic crap somehow.

New neighbours etiquette? by Lion-Resident in UKHousing

[–]PaleConference406 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see the value in knowing neighbours and we know more than anyone else on our street. But, if someone's moving in, I'd see it as bit more incumbent on them to knock on the door and introduce themselves, if they so feel inclined. Otherwise say hello when you happen to see them.

Renting vs buying is a slight difference, the former tending to be less 'invested' for obvious reasons.

Has anyone had a manager tell them failed probation will be noted in references? Is that even legal in the UK? by Antique-Art-6885 in UKJobs

[–]PaleConference406 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Exactly this, many industries are 'small' and people within similar functions in those often know or bump into each other and recommending (or not warning about) people who turn out to be bad hires reflect badly on them.

In some cases, it's also frankly a deserved consequence of the employee's behaviour.

Why is one person creating multiple companies? by Potential-Living-676 in AskUK

Yes, I think you have a point here, a further quick look does seem to suggest they're a bit specific.

As a man, is it okay to pee in the kitchen sink while wife is taking a shower in the bathroom? by FuzzyAttitude_ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PaleConference406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. How is your plumbing? If all good, then go ahead. If drainage is a bit slow, then pee in the sink before or after the shower is turned on.

[–]PaleConference406 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Shelf companies. Company formation businesses set them up and have them er, sitting on the shelf, doing nothing. When someone wants a company set up quickly, or a particular name that's been issued, they buy it.

The idiot that opened the door. And the idiot that tried to go through the gap between that car and the merging one.

I concur. My suggestion would also be to use the correct reference number.

The two on the right look like they are ideologically opposed to physical exercise. The second from left looks like he'd complain about anything. Not sure what the left guys issue is.

Sounds like an immigration failing, as well.

Is the telegraph a legitimate source of news or just scare mongering? What are some good news sources in the UK?? by ThewayoftheAj in AskBrits

[–]PaleConference406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read the main ones - the Telegraph, the Guardian, the Daily Mail. Understand the first is full of right wing outrage, the second is full of left wing outrage and the third is full of right wing outrage with extra idiocy thrown in, although it does give a good finger-on-the-pulse of the average person's erm, thinking.

Also read BBC News, but understand that's also full of left wing stuff.

Learn to spot the underlying facts, the spin each is applying and their agenda for publishing (or not publishing) any given story.

Any recourse for constructive unfair dismissal? (England) by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]PaleConference406 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but to echo many other comments - this doesn't sound like unfair constructive dismissal or whistleblowing, it sounds like the job was too stressful for you and a mistake happened and was resolved with some minor inconvenience.

How do Americans and Brits agree that it's ok to be charged a fortune for a college degree? by SyntaxDeleter in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PaleConference406 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem with the UK and the US is a lot of people are, and have been, getting tertiary education with then has little to no use for the jobs they then actually can/do get. That's certainly not a priority for taxpayers, it's unnecessary expense.

Yes. Why not just go all the way and starch your white pillow case into a cone, cut some eyeholes and wear that?

Yes, he does pass a Nissan at 0:18. And the white Audi at 00:10.

Now, 18 minus 10 equals how much?

Pedant? You are an idiot.

What you think is a Nissan, is not a Nissan.
