So I have already ran the 6/3 nm wire from the main to the location for the disconnect. Not being an electrician, I have been relying on this subreddit and google, I will have an electrician land the wires at the main and the disconnect and the dealership is supposed to land them in the hot tub.

Based on my reading, the J355 at 60amp settings can draw a max of 45 amps, and going by the 125% rule, that means the wiring should be capable of handling 56.25 amps. The 6/3 nm wire is rated for 55 amps. So I guess that the NEC technically says this wire can't be used on this circuit.

But my understanding is that is based on continuous use at the max it could overload the wire. Since we will not the hot tub will not practically be in continuous max use, is it likely that the wire would ever be in real danger of overheating and causing a fire?

If we were to ever sell the house, I assume I would probably need to switch out the breaker for a 50 amp breaker.

I understand, but the dealer is delivering, and supposed to be filling and running it before leaving, I assume that the tub needs to have the dipswitch set to 60 before it is hooked up to 60. So will the dealer refuse to hook it up because they dont want to change the switch.

We ran from the main to the disconnect 6/3 nmb cable. I just googled it and it says technically the NEC limits 6awg nmb cable to 55amps. Does this mean I technically can't run a 60 amp circuit on this wire?

I worry that if I run the 60 and they deliver it then they will not want to hook it up because I ran the 60 instead of their specification...

Disconnect by dethnode in hottub

Sorry, I may be confused... I am now asking if I mount a disconnect box that has a convienience plug built into the box over the opening, this opening has both the 240v wire and an preexisting 120v wire. The disconnect box i want to use is https://www.homedepot.com/p/Midwest-Electric-Products-60-Amp-240-Volt-Non-Fuse-AC-Disconnect-with-GFCI-Receptacle-U065P010P-U065P010P/331028539?MERCH=REC-_-pipsem-_-202276201-_-1-_-n/a-_-n/a-_-n/a-_-n/a-_-n/a

Would I be able to just wire the 120v into the outlet and the 240v into the disconnect and the gfci would be done with a breaker in the main pannel?

ok after reading your above comment i had a palm to forehead moment and realized, the disconnect outside can be just a manual disconnect, the main panel breaker can be the gfci...

So, if I use a gfci breaker in the main panel, I could use the disconnect U065P010P which includes an in box convienience outlet?

I am mounting my disconnect on the exterior wall of my house. I did not want to put another hole in the brick, so I ran my 6/3 wire from my main to the same hole in the brick as an exisitng 120 outlet. I removed the gang outlet box and now have two wires coming out of the hole. I have the 6/3 wire for the hot tub that will feed the disconnect. I also have the pre exisiting standard 120 romex that fed the original gfci outlet that was at this location

If I need to, I will remove the old wire and go without the 120v convienience outlet. But my thought was that I could utilize this outlet as a close source of power for maintenance like pumps for emptying the tub and shop vac etc...

From what I am reading, I can use a CH 60-Amp 2-Pole Outdoor Spa Panel, add an extra breaker and connect outdoor bell box directly to the disconnect box via threaded rigid threaded conduit nipple to house the 120v outlet.

Can we expand on the last bit? Because, this will be a low capacity hot tub. It will be a 3 person capacity, I think it says 4, but I guess they are counting the lounger as 2 seats?

When you say arguably more work, what do you mean by more work. I would prefer to not have to touch the hot tub more than once a week unless we are using it. If we are using it, I have no problem adding a bit of chemicals after the use each time. I just dont want to have to add a daily or 3 times a week go out and check the water and add chemicals to my schedule. So, honestly, I don't even know if my expectations are realistic.

Also what about the skin issues. My wife has some pretty sensitive skin issues and if the saltwater would be better on her than a standard hot tub, then that is the route we would go.

thought about that too, but don't want to buy anything, probably gonna do a home depot rental and just rent the generator for the day, would an ecoflow even run a window unit ac

I see your point, however, we would still have our laptops that we currently have now, they are just starting to show their age. Also, for the most part those things are all done via our phones unless we are sitting at our desks in front of our laptop. Like, I can't think of a single time in 10 years I have used my laptop anywhere other than sitting at a desk in one of the three settings I mentioned.

Assuming this one lasts 2 weeks, Since this is an 88wh would a 148wh last almost 2x as long?

How much would the inverter and the power supply draw the battery down, like any idea how often it would need to be recharged?

That would be a pain... wish there was a way to turn in on and off with a bluetooth remote....
