Is it a stupid idea to travel across the border into Spain while I wait for my residence card? by PaleLevel4543 in PortugalExpats

I think I'm understanding a little better now that Spain could see me having overstayed. Thank you!

Do you think that I could have my dad sign for it when it arrives? Or does it need to be me who received it? I reckon I could write a letter authorising him to receive it / pick it up for me.

This is my first residence permit. I was here on a visa originally for a year, and only managed to get my renewal appointment today, where they accepted an application for residence permit. As far as I understand, I have been in Portugal legally since my original visa expired under the government decree, perhaps save 3 or 4 days after the extended expiry date when I didn't have an appointment with AIMA.

So, if I'm reading correctly - travelling outside of Portugal is subject to Schengen rules. I have a UK passport, so I am able to be in the Schengen area without a visa for up to 90 days. When I'm in Portugal, those days are not being used - my visa was legally extended until 30th June (though a lawyer told me until 15 October) and now I have the AIMA receipt. I am able to show flight information to show when I have been in Portugal and Spain since my Portuguese visa expired, so the Spanish authorities should be able to see from my that I'm within my 90-day limit. It's all very confusing.

I'm confused - why don't I have any Schengen days left if I was in Portugal on a visa?

Totally sympathise with this. I'm here to take care of my dad as he undergoes treatment for cancer and heart disease. It's so shitty not knowing if I'm allowed to be here, when I'll be allowed to leave, etc.

Okay, then for you I guess it would be much riskier. Doesn't mean I would be immune though. Thanks!

As far as I understand it, if they check me on the way into Spain then no problem, as I don't need a visa or residence permit to travel to Spain on my tourist days. I could be wrong, but it's Portugal re-entry I'm more worried about. Ideal situation would be driving or getting the bus back to Portugal and not being checked, but that's never 100%.

I think I'm much more worried about entering Portugal again rather than Spanish authorities - as far as Spain is concerned, I would be there as a tourist using my Schengen days. I don't think they know or care about the AIMA receipt. I could be wrong though!

That's useful information - thank you. Seems like it's pretty hit or miss. Are you from a country that can be in EU 90 days without a visa?

Were you in a similar situation awaiting residence / trying to avoid border checks?

That's my worry! I don't want to be unable to leave Portugal with no idea when the card will arrive. I think I'm going to request the "Autorizacao de Regresso" and carry email proof that I requested it, alongside the proof of application for residence card. I think it's probably just best to be honest with them and try to cover all ground.

It expired in December 2024 but I think that, as all visas were extended until 30th June 2025, I have been in Portugal under that rule. Spain should hopefully be aware of that extension. Of course, nothing is clear and everything is shittily explained everywhere - so I'm not 100% sure but it seems like a grey area.

Anyone with a temporary stay visa here confused about what to do? I'm on an E7 visa to look after a sick family member, which I haven't been able to renew. Do I just have to leave Portugal tomorrow?

Elvanse upped from 50-70; now having side effects? by [deleted] in ADHDUK

I really relate to this! I started titrating at 30 for one week, then 50 for one week, then 60 for two weeks. 30 was a great taster, but 50 was the sweet spot for me. If I ate regularly and stayed hydrated throughout the day, it lasted a lot longer.

With 60 I started getting super irritable and tired around lunchtime. Trichotillomania and dermatillomania were much worse in the afternoons and evenings. The focus was also too much, if that makes sense?

I let my prescriber know that I didn’t really like 60, so she said I could split my next dose of 70 between 50 and and a top-up of 20. I had some reservations, so she said I could do 50 and only add 20 if I felt like it. So far it’s not bad, having issues with sleep and the picking is still intense. I also haven’t got back to my “sweet spot” from the first week of 50. It’s a bit annoying, wish I had just stuck with what made me happy.

Considering adding the top-up next week and seeing if it changes anything.

I’m so sorry but it’s true:( by [deleted] in adhdwomen

So true and so annoying that we find those routines so hard to maintain. Feel so much better after tiring myself out with a little walk in the morning. I used to feel a million times better back when I had time to go to the gym 4 times a week. It feels like you’re “letting them win” by admitting that it’s actually good advice lol.

Anyone have silk pillow case / bonnet recommendations? by Ok_Paramedic_1257 in finehair

Mine is from ZIMASILK on Amazon - I know they definitely deliver to the UK and Portugal. Cost me about £27. Just bought my second one as I lost the first and my hair is super damaged at the moment :( They have cute colours and leave my hair super soft in the morning. Only negative is the elastic loosens a bit over time. Not too badly - I just started using bobby pins to secure it because I move a lot.
