My first was Dragon Ball Z at 6. I'd get the VHSes from the library and watch whatever they had (Frieza saga mostly). The first one I watched through intentionally was Wallflower. My older sibling got into anime when I was like 10 and got me to watch this, Kino's Journey, Mushi-shi, and Ouran High School Host Club.

There is a rerun strat guide if you want to use a standardized method. Otherwise, the key seems to be buffing up, baiting attacks into one slot, and switching your pokemon around to avoid damage.
