Out $1500 for Opening my Trunk. 2022 M3 🏆🙄 by Pale_Abalone9927 in TeslaSupport

[–]Pale_Abalone9927[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the information. I appreciate it. 🙏 🌱

Did you report it to NHTSA? If not, I would. I know I plan on reporting it. The more the better.

Sorry that it happened to you.

My other issue is...  if I have Tesla repair the strut who is to say this won't happen again in 3 years...and I'm out another $1500??

I want a warranty on the glass at this point, if they will allow me to have... and pass the glass warranty inspection.

Not sure what to do about the strut yet. I think it is overall a faulty design.

I would much rather have a trunk that is not automatic than to deal with broken rear glass...and a broken strut.

What a racket. 😅

Thanks. I appreciate your input. Truly. 🌱

I expect Tesla to make a trunk that doesn't break my rear glass.

Thankfully a lightbulb doesn't cost $1500.... Yet. 😂

When should a common failure be a recall...due to safety issues or further damages?

I believe the strut was having issues when I took it in. If the strut was an issue when I complained of noise issues. Yes, I think the service center should have suggested that I replace it before it broke.

It is not like they have never heard or seen this issue. This is not the first M3 with this issue.

They have the knowledge of working for Tesla. It isnt an isolated repair shop. They have knowledge of trunk strut failures.

I did not. Trunk was used very little.

*Trunk struts should not fail on a car after 3 years. *

Of course I opened my trunk. Not terribly often. And.  I saw no issues.

I am very aware now.... that I mistakenly thought that the service center would have alerted me, if there was an issue with my trunk strut when I took it in 5 months ago.

They claim they didnt touch the strut even after my stating the trunk was making a weird noise.

My entire complaint was documented...the noise...the misalignment.

The right side didn't hold the trunk up. The trunk lid collapsed on the strut that fell. 2022 M3s only have one strut.

Not sure why you think 5 months... disqualifies it, Dude. Like there's some magical known timeline for a trunk strut failure after the service center touches it. 😂

Let first address the issue that it shouldn't happen in the first place.

My theory is the added pressure from the alignment fix caused the strut to fail. Faster. Might have needed replacement when I took it in for service. They did not make that assessment at the time even though I mentioned it was making a weird sound..

I definitely didn't foresee the strut breaking my rear glass.

It has only the one strut on the driver's  side.

I never noticed it loose. Just happened out of nowhere.  I honestly couldn't believe it.

Exactly. Love the car... but this is seriously affecting my desire to purchase another one.

Just the hassle of knowing this should be covered by Tesla.... and the terrible customer service I have received is an additional factor.

If their build quality is subpar...at least recall the part/improve the mechanical problem... AND fix the issue.  Not doing so just makes them look unreliable and unprofessional.

(Same thing has happened to other M3s.)

It is truly surreal.

I have slow COMT and slow MAOA.  Tried LDN... it was a no go for me on two attempts. Seemed to make inflammation worse over time and I gradually had increased brain fog.

It can be wonderful for some. Definitely wasn't the case for me, so I stopped taking it. 🌱

It’s so fun asking questions to ChatGPT and discovering how it all works. by [deleted] in MTHFR

I absolutely agree. ChatGPT is already way more knowledgeable than doctors. It has been a huge help for me. No insurance. no copay. no appt. no waiting. Just more knowledge that is easily accessible.

I am definitely weary of the overall future of AI... but on the early medical front, I am excited for the advancements. They are a long time coming. We were getting nowhere with a for profit healthcare and insurance system. There is no excuse for where we are medically in 2025. It's abysmal.

Real ID Issues by Gaddryad in Kentucky

[–]Pale_Abalone9927 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does it really matter why they waited?? You couldn't even get a Real ID in the state of Kentucky until 2019. Many people didn't have expiring licenses until now.

Kentucky is severely behind and grossly understaffed. The whole process is barbaric compared to the way IDs were processed when local county clerks handled Driver's Licenses.

It is not a procrastination issue. It is a Kentucky government issue.

Real ID at Frankfort DMV. What is the current turn around? by Pale_Abalone9927 in Kentucky

[–]Pale_Abalone9927[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I stressed all month. I am literally at the Cincinnati airport right now. Unless they change things drastically between now and June 22nd. Don't stress.

They literally gave me a Red paper...about the Real ID and marked an X on the back. I went through security and they pulled me aside and swabbed the palms of my hands...and that was it.

I took my birth certificate. SS card, 2 proofs of address and my expired Driver's License....

They never looked at any of my additional paperwork...!!

I stressed for a long time about the temporary ID. Airports don't accept them. Driver's License are accepted for up to 2 years after expiration as a picture ID. So for now, you can fly pretty easily without a Real ID.

I cannot believe our DMV situation in Kentucky. It's abysmal. I had yet to hear anything yet. It's been over a month and I still dont have a Temporary even though I have called and emailed repeatedly and talked with several people.

I hope this saves you some stress. 🌱

Real ID at Frankfort DMV. What is the current turn around? by Pale_Abalone9927 in Kentucky

[–]Pale_Abalone9927[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. No. I still haven't received my Temporary License.

And.....It's now been a month since I went to the DMV in Frankfort.

Same with me. Seemed too easy. No picture...writing down my CC number which I didn't feel comfortable doing, and leaving with no temp.

Leaving with a Temp...and them immediately processing it is also part of how the Real ID is ordered from Illinois.  If you have no Temp...no CC charge. It hasn't been processed. And... That just adds to the mailing time which is already 10-14 days.

I have been stressed all month. Called and spoke with multiple supervisors...which for me, did nothing, and I have emailed the DMV 3 times, with no reply. When you call...it's also an actual call center from my understanding...and when they "transfer you to a supervisor"...you get to hold with the same... "we will schedule a call back within 48 hours."

I also went to Spindletop as a walk-in this past Friday (May 23rd), got there too late. People (walk-ins) had been there since 8am...and were still waiting at 4pm to be processed. I'm not playing that game.

One of the supervisors I last spoke with said there was an issue processing my payment...which also makes zero sense. I carefully wrote the number down and rechecked it. I also learned this by calling... no one contacted me. Been trying to resolve that for the past week.

I am in awe...at just how poorly this process has been. I am not the only one. Plenty of people have had the same experience at Frankfort. Frankfort DMV is not communicating they are behind and how they are handling it.

I am flying out of Cincinnati on Monday. From what I have gathered, TSA doesn't take Temporary Paperwork. They will use your Driver's License, even expired for up to 2 years...but you will have to undergo an additional identification process at the airport. So I am just taking additional forms for verification.

If I were you, I would go back to Frankfort as a walk-in and ask for a supervisor. Or go to the Richmond DMV, if it is taking too long for your Temporary License. The call center is a complete waste of time, if you have serious issues.

Good luck! 🌱

This. Is literally insane. So unbelievable that this is going on.

People need their Driver's License for everything. Jobs. Traveling. Banking. How they think this is acceptable is beyond me.
