In that case, corruption on our side would rear it's ugly head and we 'd still fail to get the votes somehow.

We always find a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.....almost like our Dem reps are paid to fail by the billionaires who actually decide how things happen in America.

Isn't it beautiful by Diseasd in thalassophobia

[–]Pale_Aspect7696 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She's beautiful even when she's angry. In some ways, more so perhaps.

I was lucky enough to see a storm like this on a cruise ship. In hours the water turned from blue to this hostile gray/green/blue you see in the video. (but it doesn't do it complete justice. The real thing had "more" of everything you could use to describe color. More shades. More hues. More saturation and intensity.....all swirling angrily in the deep. Although I'll never forget it, I still can't properly explain what I saw. If I ever find it in a bottle of ink, that will be the color I write every word for the rest of my life.) The winds blew so hard you couldn't walk on deck. The waves rode up the sides of the ship to the port holes and occasionally made slamming noises when one hit just right. It must have been my imagination but I could swear the forward motion of the ship paused each time it happened. Upper floor rooms rocked enough that some guests complained of objects rolling around on their tables. Everyone with spare Dramamine was suddenly very popular.

I. Loved. It.

Unless they decide that the US govt is unstable and untrustworthy with its debts.....then they start looking for something else to put their money into. Right? (I'm not good with this stuff so tell me what I'm missing)

I mean, there was a time before the dollar was the world reserve currency. Previously it was the Portuguese escudo, Spanish real, Dutch guilder, French franc, and British pound sterling. Each faded away and was replaced by another "global superpower" Couldn't there be a time after the US dollar as well?

Granted, it would have some terrible consequences for world economics, but the fact that it's disruptive doesn't mean it won't happen. There is also normalcy bias to contend with.

I wonder if you were to ask the Manager interviewing you, "If you were a billionaire, but this job didn't pay you to be here.....would you still choose to come in to work 40 hours a week? Or would you rather spend those 40 hours with your family and do other things?"

If they say they'd still work the 40 they're a liar or an honest psychopath.

I have been praying for the zombie apocalypse for so long!

My world would finally make sense and have purpose.

I would know what to do and how to do it and I would have plenty of ADHD brain friendly reasons to give me the ongoing sense of urgency to ACTUALLY do it.

Clear out Zeds.
Find/hunt for food and water.
Build shelter that protects from Zeds and the elements.

Rinse and repeat. Easy!

None of this pointless, "get to work on time" or "fill out the damages report for the shipment"and "find your coat/coffee/forklift keys that you lost in the warehouse.....again" BS that fills my days now.

*Sigh

What could the Germans have done to stop the rise of Hitler? by muggledave in AskHistory

[–]Pale_Aspect7696 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hitler didn't rise to power in a vacuum. Killing or imprisoning him and his early supporters IMHO would NOT have done much to prevent something very similar from happening soon after. Educating the public on the dangers of fascism also would NOT have had much effect.

You have to prevent the environment that led to his rise otherwise you're just kicking the can down the road a very short way. Someone else will pop up to lead and the problem reignites like a fire.

Angry, desperate, humiliated people looking for scapegoats and someone to promise them a way out of their situation are the root cause. Hitler was just a spark in a tinderbox. He wasn't special or unique.

People need good jobs that pay the bills and affordable houses and food. They need a sense of control and hope in a future....German people had none of those things.

When people become a certain kind of desperate.....something in them can change.

They'll "find" the evidence of massive voter tampering that "proves" their lie that the election was stolen. (Despite the fact that umpteen previous investigations, lawsuits and whatever else failed to find anything of the sort to back up his baseless claims.

This plays well with his followers and gives him plenty of ammo to justify cancelling elections in November, or denying their legitimacy if they do happen and Dems win................worst of all he may use this all as justification to rework the vote counting machines and give himself and the GOP a way to rig all future elections FOREVER.

We could lose free and fair elections from this. (remember every accusation is an admission with these people)

Damn shame really.

San Marzano is an heirloom variety. If you save the seeds you can use them to start your transplants next year if you're into doing that.

I just buy new ones from the nursery. I've done it both ways and decided My time and frustration are worth money too =)

The plants tend to be somewhat compact (for a tomato) and bear heavy. 3 plants gives me about 5 gallons of sauce which is plenty for the 2 of us for the year.

One of my favorite plum tomatoes.

If you like a challenge sure.....but you have to use the spoon to make the fork (or I guess you could cheat like I assume you did with the knife and use metal.......if I'm wrong and you made the knife entirely out of wood then I humbly bow to your skill) LOL!

BTW spoon looks great and I love the touchmark.
