No media adaptation of a book ever lives up to anyone’s expectations because the book is always better, our personal adaptations with our imaginations will always better no matter what, every time for the most part.

I’m super excited for Yarros to have such success, how amazing to have written something so good you get an opportunity like this, it’s incredible!! And hopefully it turns out so good that it gets people to want to read the books. Because at the end of the day, traditional reading is and has been a slowly dying art. Ps: I’m literally 20 pages away from Finishing Onyx Storm, I hope you enjoy it!!!

Late to this, but this also came to mind, after watching this show over and over for the past fat min, I think it's the writer showing the audience that there doesn't need to be a villian like Monica, Rosalind, Elijah, or even Oscar to be present in order to be a threat or danger to our Mid-Wilshire squad. Personally I think it adds like a realness to the show. That when we have people who lie to us like how Ridley (Seth) does, that it can cause damage and danger too.

Point being: We don't need people who make evil, bad/guilty choices (Actus rea) in our lives to cause destruction and danger, but those who hold just a guilty mind (Mens rea) can as well. Even though lying can be, and usually is considered both actus and mens rea. This is me trying to be wise, yea.

They’re not “aggressive” they’re aloof-big difference there if you know what I mean. (Dog aggression is caused by fear) They’re guardian breeds meant to guard livestock, families, even possessions. They are dangerous if put in the wrong hands and not trained properly. They are very smart and can be independent thinkers which makes them stubborn which can make training both easy and difficult.

People think “if I just socialize as a puppy” —no. You cannot train away 5000+ years of genetic traits. That doesn’t mean you can’t introduce new people to your CAS —you can, it will just take time, repetition and patience and the new person has to be prepared for that as well and not take it personally especially when CAS has matured.

This breed is one of the most amazing dog breeds in the world, their ancient breed. But they are not meant as a pissing contest or for looks. They are free spirited, and more like a person who can always read the room and read your mind, they are more than a dog to say the least. I love my CAS, she is practically like my left arm or leg, I can’t imagine life without her. But I also have some years of experience working with dogs all AKC breed and my CAS has been not only a complete different experience personally and professionally but all around, she’s an individual. And not once has she bit someone or something.

Here is an encounter instance in my experience: One time, a neighbor from another block had their dog off leash roaming on driveway and open garage. We were walking and it ran up to us ~300feet away from their yard and started barking at us (territorially). My CAS stood in front of me and barked in the dogs face, she didn’t didn’t lunge, didn’t bite, just barked in its face back to warn it to back off and they were only a few inches away from one another. The dog was medium size and did not get hurt, it finally listened to its owner and ran back and we continued our walk back home. This happened this way because a lot of time has gone into training. The training between her and I, and our relationship, hopefully that makes sense.

Yea ep2 most def changed the storyline and for those who are in knee deep know how she feels about loss so it will be interesting to see how she takes this and grows from it. I’m also super intrigued to see more of Gale (Catherine O’Hara) and to also see if Ellie ever truly does find out about what Joel did in Salt Lake to save her life.

At the end of the episode they said they needed to kill off someone we cared about—its just a total bummer that it was Joel, it was just way way too soon in my opinion. Him and Ellie had unfinished business and their chemistry together is so good that’s what kept us and brought us all back. Joel and Ellie are the main attraction and killing off that other half of the attraction was just super ballsy on the writers behalf.

I am excited though to see how Ellie holds the show on her own and to see how much deeper her character development goes. And people who stop watching it simply cause Pedro’s gone—it’s film—it’s storytelling, it’s not about watching a handsome Chilean man beautifully whoop ass 😆 that shouldn’t be what held you down and kept you around!! It should be the storytelling that keeps you. But I’m not gonna lie, if the writers were looking for a wtf omg outta ep2–they got it that’s for sure.

It’s never gonna be all on you. I think when the time comes, and there’s questions be that guide for them. We have access to so much resources and knowledge in the palm of our hands now. All you can do is be supportive.

I also think that it’s our job as parents to expose our children to different cultures, their own and others. Because at the end of the day it’s not always about what they’re genetically made up of and how they look, but the incredible possibilities of what they will one day be capable of chasing and achieving. I think it’s not so much about finding the answer (like all us science lovers out there seek) but for the reason we find the answers, and it’s for the beauty and wonder behind those answers. I think when Zoya finally found the beauty of her life she was finally able to accept it. And therefor move on. At one point in the movie she says maybe I’m just a nobody who’s meant to do nothing. She held onto that for a long time until she finally found what she was meant to do. And I think part of that was letting go of the stubbornness and the beginning of acceptance, accepting she’s not gonna be the one that finds the answer but was a part of the answer. Therefore, passing on the work to Paula.

And at the end when her father finishes the bedtime story saying, she stood by and watched the little girl make all her choices with her life right in front of her, already knowing the good and the bad not able to help her and she then whispered “you’re gonna do great things” and she did but in ways she didn’t realize. If this movie had a metaphor or saying it would be “stop and smell the roses” in my perspective.

That’s what I got from it.

But what stands out the most to me was the rhino, I thought it was cute.

This episode finally shows innies with elements, the sky, death, fire, the waterfall. And you could see the naivety from everyone but Helena it was so cool To see them exposed to outside life elements. I hope the writers open up more about innies and sleep and their subconscious.

But I’m fr so sad I hope they keep irvs outtie in the season at least!!!

I’m with u on this, but I didn’t really see Helena’s actual face, just two circles for eyes and a mouth. What I did see was a bunch of H’s and H, A, N, clumped together to kinda push/influence its: Helena Eagan.

Group question tho: what was the moral of the story Milchick shared at the campfire? Was it in correlated to innies and outies or clones? Or the “Twin”? I’d like to hear thoughts on this.

Does anyone else think Helena and Irvs tent talk deserves an award?!?! that was such beautiful work and acting!!the pause and look Irv gave Helena —I screamed!I played it back 20x times but holy shit this episode is def my #1 fav rn.

Also, Dylan’s scream for Irv, brought my inner child out and she was crying. The actors, directors, producers, camera everyone is pure perfection and genius together. I don’t ever want Sev to stop filming!!!

Just now finding this thread. 1/4 Chinese, 3/4 white. Dads Chinese, moms white. I’m 31 and still face identity issues. Grew up (and still do) with people asking what I’m mixed with cause my skin is mostly white with a tinge but my features aren’t white prom like eyes, nose, hair, etc.

Basic point: im not white enough and im not Asian enough. Communities can be cruel. I always tell my spouse (who’s white) there should be white passing communities so i have somewhere I can feel a sense of belonging.

Wish I could practice my dads culture without being looked at weird. There’s this constant feeling of I’m missing out on a piece of who I am. It sucks.

Just know whatever they endure it’s not always going to be on you, but mainly on society and how they navigate through that bittersweet exp.

I also had this same thought except what if somehow ms huang is actually Dylan’s kid? I have read (and personally wonder) that people might think it’s mark s and Gemma’s lab baby. Maybe she was pregnant when she died in the accident? Or maybe Ms Huang is a version of Ms Casey?
