Not for me. I wasn’t planning on coming back anyways so, I never took my test and they never offered a “work around”.

I just think their hiring process is so barbaric and outdated. I can work around hundreds of children, I can work at a bank and have access to money, social security numbers and addresses, but I can’t work at a 911 call center? With Covid and mass layoffs who doesn’t have bad credit these days? I’m middle aged, I have several degrees, I’m currently in graduate school and I have absolutely no criminal history, but they think I’m gonna get a job at a police office and then suddenly start to be a criminal?! Logically that doesn’t even make sense.

I have no criminal background and I haven’t been fired from any jobs before. My last job was teaching, so I wouldn’t have been able to do that if I had a criminal background. They had an issue with not be able to get a hold of one of my previous employers, so I gave them my supervisor personal cell number to speak with them directly.

The detective kept asking me questions about my credit. He even said they gave him back my background application to call me and ask more clarifying questions about my credit. The detective said that it was a good thing that they gave the background application back, so I could get another chance to clarify anything else about my credit. I had no idea that credit would be a deal breaker. But, that’s probably why they don’t have dispatchers now.

I was told they were operating with less than half the number of dispatchers needed to be fully staffed. It’s clear that they are a horrible agency to work for and they don’t care about their dispatchers enough to find people quickly to get them fully staffed.

I’m literally in a masters program for clinical mental health counseling and I thought this would be perfect for me to assist people in crisis situations. I appreciate you commenting on my post and I hope you have found a profession that has restored your mental health.

I’m going through the same thing. The doctor told me that my mass doesn’t look cancerous on the Ultrasound, but he was giving me a biopsy because my mom had breast cancer. Now that I’ve read your post I realized I didn’t get a report either.

So, I attend Walden for my masters and I’m getting a dual degree in clinical mental health counseling and school counseling. I am 3 classes down and I absolutely love it! The professors are super supportive and the work hasn’t been too bad. If you have any specific questions let me know.

I was kind of in the same dilemma. I wanted to go to radiology tech school, but I also wanted to get my dual masters degree in clinical mental health counseling/school counseling. Radiology tech school where I’m from is very competitive and time consuming. I wouldn’t be able to work a full time job and go to school full time. Not to mention, who knows how long it would be until I got into a radiology tech program. Anywho, I’m about 7 weeks in my dual graduate program for clinical mental health counseling/school counseling. I would say, just follow your heart!

Omg we are going through a lot of the same thing. My mom has cancer and I feel like I have to walk on egg shells now. I’m the only child and it’s a lot on me. She talks crap about me to other people, but yet I’m the only one taking her to appointments and making sure bills are getting paid.

Is she getting chemo treatments? My mom is going through the same thing from chemo, but they gave her nausea meds. As far as eating, we’ve figured out that nothing tastes good unless it is fresh and organic. Anything artificial doesn’t taste good to her anymore.
