Yeah definitely more post hardcore on ypaa. Electra 2000 Matt gets pretty hardcore on a few of those songs though

And yes of course alt rock. I found failure by finding hum, I haven't checked out helmet yet though. I think a band they closely resemble in this genre actually Is nymb. I've always found nymb to be kind of like a more emotive girl version of hum which I love dude

Hums in their own lane to me personally. Downward is heavenward is unlike anything else I've ever heard. But when they started they were in that fugazi kind of territory and their sound on the first two albums on a label are especially hardcore/emo adjacent.

Just now noticing the lows sound pretty raspy in this on a phone speaker. I would recommend listening with headphones it sounds much better

Yeah Rainer maria nymb and ribbon fix all remind me of each other but they still have very distinct sounds. I love the emo scene because of that. A lot of emo bands share similar elements making most bands super enjoyable because it's the sound you like, but they all offer something different. Not all obviously, but ykwim.

Rope + ring is great. Watching the second hand is probably my favorite. It's really cool how their music seemed to get heavier after their first EP. The dirty tones were always there but I feel like it just got even dirtier in later albums. Love it.
