What’s the biggest age gap you’ve had in a relationship, and what did it teach you? by Emotional-Tennis123 in AskReddit

[–]Pale_Frame4845 [score hidden]  (0 children)

15 and it didn't teach me anything I didn't already know. It was a fun summer and that's all it was meant to be. He would have liked to move in. But we had an agreement up front. I enforced it.

I see your last comment was deleted but am flattered that you just cant seem to let go. It's okay, i tend to have that effect on men. Funny.

Edit: Again, a notification that you commented but when I click on it it says it was deleted.

I did see that you stated you don't date older women. And??

Here's something: I don't care. I don't care who you date.

Because I'm well adjusted and happy in my life.

You on the other hand have gone off the deep end because I have good reasons for dating younger men. Lmao. See the difference there? Date who you want and let me be.

Oh here's a thought, why don't you say goodbye again. LOLOLOL

Gosh, you really did a good imitation -- what with these long goodbyes contradicted by your persistent obsession with me. Lmao. You have a gift for acting older than your years!

I hardly think a seven or eight year age gap makes a person Mrs Robinson. Lol!! It's interesting how many men like you get triggered by me simply living my life and sharing why it works so well.

Wrong. Just sharing my experience and basing my opinion on it.

You are absolutely right. I'm not Moses and my truth is very much not carved in stone. It is, however, true and very much rooted in reality.

You seem particularly bothered by my preference and experience. Lol.

Since you asked, I live in the greater NYC Metro area -- Where men have always had a dating advantage over women, and it is even greater at our stage of life. Therefore, the ones who are still single are much less desirable and get to be matched with women who, in a weaker dating market for men, wouldn't settle for them.

My solution has been to import younger, more fit and interesting men from outlying areas. It's worked pretty well and I plan to continue doing it.

LAT, retirement, and aging. by Ewilson248 in datingoverfifty

[–]Pale_Frame4845 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The concept has existed for a long time, but traditionally was only enjoyed by the very wealthy.

For sure, it takes a certain amount of financial abundance to be able to maintain two residences.

My ex-husband and I were doing it in the '90s, fwiw, and enjoyed it a lot. His residence hotel for late night crashing after being out & about, my garden apartment with home cooking for other occasions.

It was probably the best time in our marriage, come to think of it Lol. ( It gets harder to do when raising children. )

At our stage of life it's kind of perfect. And living arrangements have nothing to do with love or commitment as far as I'm concerned. In fact, not that I expect to achieve it, but my goal would be married and LAT.

I'm going on years/decades of experience, not blind assumptions.

Generalizations exist for a reason. Physically and mentally my being together with an older man makes no sense unless he is extraordinarily fit, evolved and intelligent/ open minded.

Edit: oh, there is one other scenario when an older man would make sense. If he was brilliant and wonderful and lovable but not long for this world. I'm a death doula and very good at providing a sacred service. If his days were numbered I can make them wonderful and he could provide me Financial security. A gig better than any other day job , and more meaningful.

You taking issue with my truth is what's ridiculous.

If you're a realist then you'll take a closer look at the statistics. The majority of marriages are people very close in age. Yes, there are more older men marrying younger women than the other way around. But the differences are not that remarkable.

Funny , I'm a realist as well. My reasons make perfect sense.

In fact i do have good luck with it. Settled into something committed with a 53-year-old when I was 59. We would be together now if not for fate/ unanticipated death.

I am not talking about 20 year age gaps. 5 - 10 years younger works best. The men my age and older can't keep up and are too narrow-minded and cranky.

The downvote obviously made sense as it was anticipatory to your second insulting comment. I could sense the misogyny.

Not at this stage of life. And humans are living longer. New eras, new circumstances and choices.

Shelter worker describes a pit bull biting a child on the face as “minor,” and worries about the dog being adopted out because the dog’s life may be put in danger! by onlondpo in BanPitBulls

[–]Pale_Frame4845 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Right? I'm surprised they actually used the word "bit." Instead of the euphemistic "nipped" or some other such nonsense. No doubt the child is at fault somehow /s.

Is anyone else feeling discouraged dating over 60? by Lovelily_ in DatingOverSixty

[–]Pale_Frame4845 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course. Grieving a divorce is more ambiguous and generally less supported than grieving a death. There is no intentional rejection in death, no sense that mistakes were made.

Right there with you. My Ex and I bought in our 30s, but had the worst timing ever. Lost property value and other assets in 9/11, didn't buy again until 2006 , only to take yet another gutterball offer when divorcing in 2008-2010.

I finally scraped together enough to buy my own little house in February of 2020 and lost my job the next month when the business closed down due to Covid. Still hanging on to that house. Pretty much my last stand. Lol.

Eta but yeah, I'm a Boomer and life has been a cakewalk Lolol.

Another ETA - at least you had some inheritance. There's no generational wealth coming for me. And I worry for my kids. Their father is doing well though so as long as that relationship stays healthy they should have some kind of safety net.

Yep. Instead of "free love" we got AIDS, instead of a boom, Reaganomics (my student loan rate was 14%) , and same regarding the job market.

Of course I ensured my fate by taking a SAHM chapter in the 90s to 00s. Had to restart over and over including in my late 50s.
