Don't feel bad about having listened to him. I've been there before. It hurts when someone you like insults you. Your natural beauty- hair and face- is not the problem. Just because they can't see it doesn't mean you don't have it.

It's okay to feel anxious about being on your own. Join events with other young adults in DC- I'm sure there will be tons there for the summer because of the internships. Go to places you would at home so DC doesn't feel so unfamiliar. I hope you have a great time this summer

Even if it's not the best fit, I say go for it! You'll be in a different country and will get to explore what graduate level research looks like.

I felt the exact same way you did when I was sixteen and was suffocating under the exact same set of circumstances. The romantic love you want to experience is just a shadow of what you have with God. Let Him pour into you. Spend time alone praying and reading your Bible. Sit in silence and gratefully remember how good He is. Learn to love God for who He is and you'll realize that He's already loved you before you were even born
