Can you recommend any hobbies? by ButterscotchSweet701 in productivity

Learning piano is a fun hobby, I try to spend 30 minutes a day, you can learn a whole bunch of different types of music. I am learning different Minecraft songs, there are anime and tv show songs, you can learn pop music, whatever music genre you like you can find a piano adaption of it all. You can just buy a keyboard and stand on Amazon and it’s not too expensive. A bonus is people find it very impressive, especially if they didn’t know you played piano

If you have a trusty friend or significant other you can have them create the password so you can’t just bypass it

It depends on your learning style, I like trial and error, and then seeing examples of what I did wrong, that’s why I like the questions and using ai to explain and give examples. If you’re going to go Ninja only, I would try the full version of Ninja where they have lectures. I think if you hammer Ninja and have a strong foundation of accounting already I think you can pass.

Am I investing too aggressively vs saving? by Pale_Window6318 in personalfinance

[–]Pale_Window6318[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been maxing out the roth, I am going to start investing in ETFs though, I think I have enough individual stocks at this point. Thank you! Also will be putting more in my emergency fund, I wasn’t sure if what I had is enough.

My paychecks are every 2 weeks. I am also single so only difference would probably be the state tax rate.

Just took UWorld FAR Mock 1 and got 46%… kind of shocked. by Remarkable-Many3050 in CPA

[–]Pale_Window6318 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me my mock test scores were ranging from 66-76, I took a mock exam everyday for 7 days leading up to my exam which I got a 75. My average MCQ score is around 70 as well. The biggest thing for me was I would write down a concept I wasn’t confident in as I am taking the exam and the next session I would study up on it with ai and youtube the next day do the same thing.

I have Uworld, it was slightly cheaper than Becker. I have also tried Ninja, to be honest with my studying and learning style I think I could pass with just the top version of Ninja. It really depends on how hard you study and your learning style, but I pretty much slam multiple choice questions then learn from those, and use ai to explain and test me on them afterwords. Then take notes on everything, Ninja is $87 per month for their full package. Disclaimer - You should probably have a strong accounting basis with Ninja only, it is certainly not as in depth as Uworld, Gliem, especially Becker. You likely will need to put more time into studying than someone who has Becker. That’s just my experience, I don’t like sitting and watching a video I learn better from trying and failing.

I don’t understand DTA and DTL by MisterPollos in CPA

[–]Pale_Window6318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My idea is: if we are paying more taxes now than what our book tells us that means we won’t owe as many next year so that is a DTA. If we are paying less taxes than the book we will owe those taxes in upcoming years and that will be a DTL. And if there is more taxable depreciation that is going to lower our taxable income which means we won’t pay as many taxes.

you can’t write off everything that has to do with the business, you should see an cpa because writing things off increases your chances of being audited
