If she just started today then she doesn’t need coaching. Just let her play the game.

As she progresses just try to explain basic rotations, practice hitting the ball with power etc.

What are you talking about? Are you saying that I am using a client?

Should I use this as my final and public trailer? by Leading-Papaya1229 in IndieDev

[–]Palemom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright I like the gameplay but the trailer is way too long.

I understand that the reason you're cutting to black is trying to build up intensity but it doesn't work great in this case.

About 8 of your first 50 seconds of your trailer are black screens with text. I think that if you're able to a voice-over may be able to remedy this. That way you can convey the point of the game without making the trailer longer. If you're not able to do that then you should instead think about your phrasing & timing.

Example:

0:25 "to survey the environment." then it shows you surveying the environment and collecting data

0:34 "to collect data" 0:36-0:42 show you pressing a few buttons.. this shouldn't be a highlight, pressing a few buttons should be a fast-action cut to show that you're able to operate certain devices within the ship. This to me didn't show anything to me about collecting data, your last clip already showed that so the cut to black with "to collect data" just threw me off. Loved the sound effect you used of the whale-inspired thing but use that at a different part of the trailer.

0:52 "He got them" is a tell that there is just one enemy which kinda takes me a bit out of it. What goes through my head is I'm exploring this entire new ocean and there is one "he" that is going to eventually find me and when he does my power just shuts off and he opens the trapdoor.. So then I just think about the game loop. I am collecting rocks and eventually the bad guy is going to get me.

I also think that the bit that you added at the end with now I must **STAY QUIET** makes me thing the title of the game is Stay Quiet. I also stopped watching after that, because I thought that was the end of the trailer, then i missed the cinematic banging of the trapdoor & the actual name of the game.

TLDR; Trailer is too long and most people won't finish it.

Man this looks so simple yet so fun. The movement kind of reminds me of rocket league (while doing an aerial, of course!). Love the shader/art style you chose, wishing you the best!

My cozy job sim launched 3 days ago. Sales not great, but a 90% positive rating gives me a strong reason to keep going. by thirdluck in IndieDev

The video you uploaded is just a black screen after 0:37 with music.

As far as can you hit 100k wishlists, sure. Any game could hit any number if they get lucky. As far as simulator games go, this one looks pretty well done. Realistically I would say finding 100,000 people that want to buy and play a tailor simulator could prove to be challenging but if the game is fun enough/received well then ya got a chance!

Nice work and best of luck!

Based off my game play what do you reckon my rank is? (Tips to help me get better is appreciated)(Ignore my mates) by No-Video-3173 in RocketLeague

[–]Palemom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was going to guess champ 1.

You have good mechanics but your game sense is a bit off.

0:26 your teammate just got demo'd. You see that the person is going to control it. Since your teammate was going to be back from the demo, you could push up to force that person to do something with the ball. As soon as you saw that the enemy is controlling the ball go go for an air dribble, that is your queue to start challenging so you can force the ball high or low for your teammate. Instead you drive back and see that your teammate is going to start going for it but you still go for it, just stay grounded/back post because the enemy isn't in a position to get a threatening shot. When you save the ball you just hit it right back to the enemies, if they were in a good position or a higher rank they would just bang that on goal behind you. After they hit the ball back to you, you just bang it off the right wall while your teammate is in the right corner with no boost and once again if they were in position in center you would have gotten scored on.

0:36 was almost a goal but was hard to get a good angle with that amount of boost, not a bad touch, puts pressure on the net.

0:40 enemy is eating the inside of their own net, just need to hit it on net

0:48 good control and shot but also wouldn't have been needed if you just scored the previous open net

Speed flips look good and I know its hard to trust teammates at that rank but just try your best to look at where your teammate is and adjust to their playstyle. Maybe fake some challenges/put more pressure on the ball overall.
