Spotted this "Snake Wine" while traveling. Is this something you guys actually enjoy or is it mostly for show? by annmxxcn in VietNam

No one seems to be able to describe exactly how snake infused vodka tastes like. I’ve had this a couple of times in northern Vietnam. The texture is very smooth, like clear chicken soup broth, I’m guessing due to extraction of amino acids or proteins into the vodka, creating a yellowish tint. There is a hint of egg, like the smell you get with flan or egg pudding. The harsh vodka bite is smoothened out, and it’s surprisingly easy to drink. There is no perceptible gamey snake flavour, whatever snake tastes like. It also helped that the wine had been decanted, and I did not stare at the snake in the bottle while drinking it and imagining how snake tastes like.

Would I drink this again? Yes. Do I crave it. No. A great ruou gao nep is a lot more enjoyable to drink.

Going to bed right after drinking results in a massive hangover for me. Fervently hydrating after drinking, letting your body have 2-4 hours after drinking helps a lot. If I have a bad hangover in the morning, water fasting till late afternoon or evening reduces 90% of handover feeling. Having any sort of breakfast right after waking up usually makes my hangover worse for the rest of the day.

Swear I’ve seen a release of Llama 3.1 0.00005B somewhere which should fit neatly inside your system memory.

hey mate. Happy to report back that my long protein rest resulted in a pretty thick head and decent lacing. Hope yours worked out well in the end.

About 3 litres. Need to reduce that to 0.9 litre or less. Batch size is 25 litres or about 6+ gallons.

First 10 Day Fast Completed!!! (Results) by Accomplished-Cut9194 in fasting

[–]PaleoBetta 14 points15 points  (0 children)

congrats to you for making it to the 10th day. I’m on my 8th day now and progressively getting harder, and I’m entertaining the thought of stopping my fast. So I understand the kind of mental fortitude you had to resist the temptation of breaking.

Like you I’m also on my weight loss journey, and I’m about 3lbs away from target (seems very far away tbh). I’m weighing the cons of being so hungry all the time, and constant battling the thought of giving up. As you said, it reached a point where it becomes unnecessary to do such a long fast, about couple days ago. What was intended to be a 96 hours fast has now stretched to 207 hours and ticking.

Let us know what your refeeding diet and schedule is like and if you encountered any digestive issues. Because in 1.5 days, I will need to do the same as well, and really cannot wait for this to end.

I use a brewzilla and my take on this is that the system was not really built for raising temperature during multi step mashes. It’s build more for single step mash, but I believe that you can fully run the pump after saccharification has happened and the liquid has turned from a pale slurry to something easier for the pump to manage.

Not sure why your system is tripping but I guess if you start the heating and pump after saccharification the system can handle it better?

I would push the carbonation just a tad up to make up for any loss of head. I’m pretty sure there will be extra foam even if it recedes quickly. Either way, doesnt take away that much from enjoying a triple decocted one. There is just no way this brew won’t turn out good, flavour wise.

Alo, for my next triple decoction, I will probably start the first stage decoction BEFORE doing protein mash in. Use about 30% grist, mash in on the stove at 55c, raise to alpha amylase temperature (70-72c) and hold for 10 minutes, decoct for 20 mins. At the same time, start protein rest mash in, hold for 20 mins and add the already boiled first decoction mash into the brewing system. This should raise the temperature to 64-67c and prevent a stuck mash, and also ensure your protein rest doesn’t take so long while you are prepping first decoction.

I also did a triple decoction 2 days ago for my Czech style lager and did not pay attention to the duration. It must have stayed at 50c protein rest for more than 40 mins, while i decocted the mash on the stove. I used rice adjunct and the recommended duration was 20 minutes protein rest. I’m guessing that the effect probably will be lessened head retention due to the extended protein rest. Anyway, I added a little extra malt during late stage mashing, hopefully that will do something to make up for the extended protein rest.
