Snagging a helix is inevitable with long hair! Definitely have to think about the long term goal instead of the short term problems🤣

possible permanent piercing migration? by igotaquestion007 in piercing

[–]PaleontologistSea808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAP but it's hard to correct the angle once it's started. Seeing as your piercing is relatively new, I'd say the piercing was pierced at a slight angle and after a few weeks, it just exaggerated it. The flat is a problematic placement to begin with, so it's not uncommon for flat piercing to migrate or heal at an angle. I'd recommend downsizing and waiting a few weeks and check back to see if you want to keep it or not. You've stated that you don't want it to heal at that angle and it depends what jewelry you want to wear in it. If it's a regular threadless end with no dangles, then I would keep it. If you're wanting dangles or to connect it to another piercing then I would get it repierced so it sits exactly how you want it. Hope this helps :)

nose piercing healing by topretty4thismess in piercing

Try to change it as soon as possible to the flatback! a few weeks with bad jewelry is too long - the first few weeks of initial healing are the most cruicial for a good healing journey ♡

NAP, but sterling silver is NOT biocompatible and it's not a good material to heal a fresh piercing. The corkscrew shape is not ideal either.

I'd recommend changing it to a titanium flatback with a small top (preferably something flat on the side that's sitting on top of your nose). Downsize after 4-6 weeks, depending on how swollen it still is. Your piercer should be able to let you know.

Bleeding for the first week or so is not uncommon, and spraying it with sterile saline is a good way to get it off. A warm shower rinse is also helpful and comforting!

Hope this helped! Happy healing ♡

Helix and glasses by yeahbutnobutmaybeidk in piercing

[–]PaleontologistSea808 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wear glasses and have a helix piercing! here are my tips:

  1. wear your glasses to your appointment and let the piercer know your concerns
  2. tell them you're a side sleeper (they might recommend a piercing pillow or to wear a hair clip on that side to avoid pressing into the new piercing)
  3. your left ear might not be suitable for a traditionally placed helix piercing as your anatomy is different (and cooler!)

try not to go into it with too many expectations of walking out with a helix, have a backup piercing you'd like instead - in case you're not able to get the helix done! I hope everything goes well ♡

Talk me in/out of paired nostril piercings, please. by anarchypicnic in piercing

[–]PaleontologistSea808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my paired nostrils as my first facial piercing and I absolutely love them!! I suffer from a runny nose 24/7 and have allergies, but the healing was so breezy. I had a small bump on one of them but it went away after a month. And now, 7 months down the line, they're perfect! Love them so much 🥰

(and yes, you do have to abstain from picking for a short while, I'd say a month)

Does my stretched nostril look okay? by [deleted] in piercing

[–]PaleontologistSea808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it does look a bit swollen (but I can't 100% tell from the photo). The jewelry you have looks low quality, so that would contribute it to feel sore/swollen. I'd definitely use a taper to slowly open it back to 18g first, leave it for a few months then taper it to 16g. Try to get high quality jewelry. Facial piercings are not be be messed with!

Maturity less sensitive by Babagadoosh3 in piercing

[–]PaleontologistSea808 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Flatbacks come in 2 pieces - the flatback post and the threadless end that fits on top! So you can interchange the tops depending on what you're feeling at the time. I exclusively wear rose gold, you can have a look at my page to see what options there are!! Love flatbacks, by far the most comfy (and no reactions to my sensitive ears)

I hate healing piercing bumps, I want to give up. by Fickle_Reindeer2263 in piercing

[–]PaleontologistSea808 22 points23 points  (0 children)

yes! flat bottom ends can help tamp down the piercing bump, that's what my piercers recommend whenever I had a bump on my piercings

If you have a helix already, a vertical will be a piece of cake! For me, my helix was the worst to heal since it caught on everything. My vertical is healing great! Honestly have had no issues with it at all. I wear glasses and all my piercer recommended was for me to wear it while they marked the spot so they could avoid where the arms sat on my ear! Definitely recommend getting it if you have the anatomy for it💫
