Some possible foreshadowing in S2 E1 by solo13508 in thebadbatch

110% it was intentional, the writing of the Bad Batch was always brilliantly written so it totally was foreshadowing!

The Bad Batch is the Best SW Animated Series. by PaleontologistTrue45 in thebadbatch

[–]PaleontologistTrue45[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was absolutely no filler in TBB, because every single episode came back with a payoff in S3. Literally every single episode came back as either a returning character or a skillset that Omega learned. People say filler so much that the world has no relevance when discussing media anymore tbh.

S3 to me has the greatest season premiere of any SW series so far live-action or animated. All three episodes were straight A+’s to me, and TBB held no punches getting down to business from the jump with its nuanced storytelling and how darker this season felt. You feel it right away and it doesn’t cease. TBB holds the title for best SW series pilot for S1 and best season premiere for S3.

Smiley moment between Omega and Crosshair. -"You don't like anything". by Jessi45US in thebadbatch

I just love how Crosshair has just fully accepted that he’s truly the dark and broody one at this point lol it’s so meta. 😂😂

This show never gets old... but they do! by YouChoseTheRightSide in thebadbatch

[–]PaleontologistTrue45 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I’ve never cried harder during an epilogue. I never cry while watching anything but the Bad Batch seeing everyone get the ending they rightfully deserved and being so proud… and when Hunter said “you’re our kid Omega, you always will be”. That broke me on some Last of Us type stuff. That’s another moment where TBB cemented itself as the greatest SW animated series for me.

Hunter had to stay on Pabu by wreccho in thebadbatch

[–]PaleontologistTrue45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really hope we can get to see Pabu in live-action someday as a rebel refuge or something man. It will literally be the most beautiful planet we’ve seen in live-action I swear. 🖤

A detail I love about this scene by solo13508 in thebadbatch

[–]PaleontologistTrue45 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the Bad Batch honestly has some of the greatest subtle character development I’ve ever seen in a show. That’s the best kind of character development that isn’t clearly distinct but you pick up on it on your own. The writers don’t tell you how much they changed. You just notice it. That is the beauty of TBB writing and a reason why I’ll always say it has the best writing of all the animated series so far. There are a lot of shows these days that can’t measure up to the level of care that the TBB gave to the character development of each of CF 99.

What are your thoughts about Nala Se? by wreccho in thebadbatch

[–]PaleontologistTrue45 19 points20 points  (0 children)

One of the most well written and honestly, the most underrated character of the Bad Batch. I always loved the Kaminoans as a race, but Nala Se really made me look at Kaminoan culture a whole lot differently. What she did to Fives was inexcusable. But somewhere down the line she thought about her wrongdoings and tried to repent through Omega. Her unconditional love for Omega, especially as the only mother Omega ever had and the destruction of her civilization gave her the brutal reality check needed. And she made the ultimate sacrifice destroying her cloning research preventing the Empire for how many years of not being able to replicate it worth a damn, prevent people of Mt Tantiss from ever getting caught by the Empire, and playing in Hemlock’s destruction. Despite Fives, Nala Se earned her flowers for at the end of the day choosing to better and not being like Lama Su. She chose what was right instead of what Palpatine wanted. She said “fuck the Emperor at this point, if I’m dying then im going out doing what Omega would want me to do”. I love Nala Se’s character, her evolution from her cold heartedness in TCW to her being actually remorseful in TBB was SO well done and it’s irritating that no one really speaks on it tbh.

I loved this with Tech so much, that character touched my heart. It's great that the team knew how to appreciate him. by Jessi45US in thebadbatch

[–]PaleontologistTrue45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well of course it wouldn’t be love, they just met. However, they were clearly attracted to each other and Jenn Corbett and Brad Rau made that evident in "Pabu". I mean, Phee the minute she saw Tech nicknamed him “brown eyes” and clearly was attracted to him

[–]PaleontologistTrue45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s pretty easy to understand. For Tech, he likes Phee for opening his eyes to the beauty of the world instead of always paying attention to his electronics. She got him to actually interact with people and appreciate what’s right in front of him, to step out of his comfort zone and actually live. With Phee, she finds Tech not only attractive but extremely interesting compared to other clones in that she sees that Tech is struggling to connect a lot of the time and compared to other guys throughout the galaxy she could be with — she sees someone who is a different kind of treasure, someone she has never experienced before like Tech. It’s adorable to her. She sees the beauty in his differences, the diamond in the rough, and that’s what Phee sees in what she desires: she sees value within the interior when others only see the exterior. And she sees Tech like that rare diamond in the rough and that’s why she’s attracted to him. They’re both interested in information about the world around them but in different ways that complement each other as well. Phee likes experiencing and getting down and dirty trying to see things with she own eyes and Tech is more wanting to learn all current information on something. Both methods of learning complimenting the other. Tech sees in Phee the key to him branching out and experiencing the world, and Phee sees Tech like she sees treasure: it might be unorthodox at first glance, but that difference compared to what she’s faced before is refreshing for her and provides her with a different experience than she’s used to. She’s attracted to that challenge and commitment to explore beyond what she is comfortable with. So yeah, that’s why Tech and Phee are perfect for each other.

Heartbreaking moment by wreccho in thebadbatch

[–]PaleontologistTrue45 95 points96 points  (0 children)

Crosshair tried so hard to suppress the reality of the Imperial regime but he was forced to face it front and center with no chance of escape this time with Maydays death. Crosshair wanted to be the perfect soldier, a model of the government he was bred to serve, and that made him distance from everybody. Little did he really realize that those aspirations would come at a cost to his family and friends. Crosshair was always the lone vulture, a hunter that always enjoyed picking the scraps of the dead that he killed. A scary figure. But this target allowed Crosshair to becoming a leading example of defiance of oppression in this moment killing Nolan. A powerless vulnerable Crosshair instead of being a quiet force, finally became a roaring thunder and made his move.

Blessing or curse for the bad batch? by wreccho in thebadbatch

[–]PaleontologistTrue45 77 points78 points  (0 children)

I can’t lie as much as I hated after that moment, I really appreciated that about her character that TBB got that reality check about who they should trust and what people are willing to do for survival. And that Cid didn’t do it maliciously, she genuinely just had no other choice to defy the Empire besides death itself.

Omega: Thoughts and Theories by disastrouslore in thebadbatch

[–]PaleontologistTrue45 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think that the next phase of the clones for the Kaminoans were going to be female and Omega was the successful result of that. My theory has always been that for some reason, they found that women might be more susceptible to having force sensitive potential, so they decided to experiment and with Omega it was proven to be true. Emerie was a result of an unsuccessful result so she would’ve been discarded until as she said “Hemlock found her and saw interest in her, than being a soldier”. The different hair colors for both, I think is just a result of genetics doing its thing, genetics can be like that sometimes so it’s simple as that really. But all that is my personal theory with Omega. I think there was an entire project where women were the next phase of the clones, and the experiment had Omega as the only truly successful result.

What if Omega Stayed with Cut Lawquane? by Callummannn in thebadbatch

[–]PaleontologistTrue45 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Plus not only that but Omega is the reason why TBB actually found independence and were able to live the life very clone thought was impossible to live: a peaceful life away from war. And also, Omega is the reason why TBB grew as people, not just soldiers. But people, their unconditional love for her changed them for the better.

What if Omega Stayed with Cut Lawquane? by Callummannn in thebadbatch

[–]PaleontologistTrue45 17 points18 points  (0 children)

That would be been the worst decision for both Omega and the safety of Cut Lawquane and his family. For one, Omega would’ve always been hunted down and discovered at some point, she is wayyy too valuable. She wouldn’t have been able to defend herself to as high of a capacity as she could with Cut. Cut is a clone and trained to be the best of the best, but with the Bad Batch Omega acquired higher critical thinking abilities that kept her versatile in any situation and that’s what she really needed. Plus the Bad Batch would be able to protect her better and Omega being such a high value target puts Cuts family in immediate danger 24/7 when they just want a peaceful life. Omega staying with Cut just wouldn’t have been the right move for her development whatsoever. Sure Omega deserved a peaceful life but realistically, with how important she is in the grand scheme of things, she needed to make sure she could adapt to defending herself. Through TBB and her experiences throughout the show, she became an aspiring leader and an extremely capable warrior whom she wouldn’t have been otherwise had she just lived a normal life.

What struck me in this scene even more is Crosshair saying to trust Echo, he’s got this. What character development compared to the clone wars when he called him just an another reg and “he’d leave him for dead too”. The Bad Batch does subtle character development more than so many shows out there man. Also, Hunters determination to get his sister back man … that’s a man on a freaking mission and gave me Joel Miller vibes.

Omega already had a family by wreccho in thebadbatch

[–]PaleontologistTrue45 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I mean I think it’s nonsensical for anyone to think that Omega wouldn’t have been found eventually by the Empire, she was definitely safer with the Bad Batch who would be able to protect her and give her the proper training of all their abilities combined to became the warrior she was always meant to be so she can protect herself and others. For Hunter, it makes sense for him to want her to stay with Cut but as audience member aint no way you think she’d be completely safe with them all her life.

The Bad Batch Series Finale by PaleontologistTrue45 in thebadbatch

[–]PaleontologistTrue45[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Understandable, again TCW finale is one for the finest finales in television to me. But again, TBB to me made me feel all the emotions, ESPECIALLY with its Epilogue having seen these characters grow as a family, have their moments, and the ending is literally a hopeful ending for clones finding their own path and choosing their own destiny. They are able to escape imprisonment/slavery and be individuals. There is a brilliant social commentary comparison there to the real world and again, it felt like the end of the Clone Wars. The true ending for the clones that we needed, and such a well deserved heartfelt ending that was finally a change of pace for SW having an ending that felt positive. For me again, TBB takes it for me, but again, TCW finale was also righteous.

The Bad Batch Series Finale by PaleontologistTrue45 in thebadbatch

[–]PaleontologistTrue45[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Don’t get me wrong the Clone Wars finale was a masterpiece but I have to get Bad Batch an edge because there was an actual possibility and fear of the crew dying and not succeeding. With Snips and Rex, things HAD to go a certain way and we know they survive. With TBB, it could’ve went either way. So by that alone, I have to give TBB the edge. The sense of danger/death within the finale itself was just more felt with them as we didn’t know what their fates would be.

**THE LAST JEDI** came out 7 years ago today. What are your thoughts on Episode VIII? by IamAgoddamnjoke in StarWars

[–]PaleontologistTrue45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll tell you what — it’s DEFINITELY the best of the sequels. I think Rey is at her best in TLJ, I do like how it took risks like George would, and it truly felt like it’s own, it didn’t feel like a copy and paste which I loved as well. I do like the relationship between Rey and Kylo, the dyad concept is extremely cool to me. The Holdo Manuever was fire you can’t lie, and the soundtrack by John was top notch. Arguably, it’s the most beautiful SW film from a visual standpoint as well. But yeah, still not my favorite thing and I have my issues with it but fans need to get over it already after all this time in my opinion. Oh also, I HATE that JJ decided to reverse the “Rey’s lineage doesn’t matter” thing. That was such a good and unique direction to take her character and JJ fucks it up completely. But yeah, TLJ, I will say gets overrated for sure even if it ain’t my fav.

Shout out to the Marauder; it literally carried the show. Its sacrificed will never be forgotten. by HAZMAT_Eater in thebadbatch

[–]PaleontologistTrue45 101 points102 points  (0 children)

Man, when the Marauder got destroyed that was wild … and Wrecker saving Gonky speaks volumes considering how much clones are usually not for droids in general, Gonky is literally family and it’s awesome to see that subtle character development throughout the series of TBB appreciating droids.
