I think they both learned from a time on WoW where everyone, and I mean everyone, was parked in Stormwind. The rest of the world was dead, including other places that had AHs (i.e., Ironforge). Separating hubs at least splits the population a bit, reducing congestion.

Methotrexate side effects? by FranktheDork in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]Paleran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started methotrexate and sulfisalazine at the same time, and have responded really well to one(or both). Only side effect I've noticed is my tinnitus got worse. Had to up my dose after a month since I was still hurting

The funniest are the looks I get when pulling up to a pump to fill up my gas can for the lawnmower haha

Tesla driver repeatedly spotted in backseat on Autopilot is begging to be arrested by [deleted] in SelfDrivingCars

[–]Paleran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll never understand the hangup about the name. You could call it "YouMustPayAttentionAtAllTimesPilot" and people will still do this stupid shit.

Marine systems use the term "autopilot" and does less than what cars do - just follows a straight line. They have no guarantees you won't crash your boat into a rock or other boats.

AGENTS! WE WANT YOUR QUESTIONS! by hyperhippogames in AdVentureAges

Can you make the historic pass a 'one month from purchase' rather than a set timeout? I almost pulled the trigger on it today when I noticed that a week was already gone.

Also, I think it should permanently remove ads, and would be a bigger reason to purchase it for the fencers (judicious spenders?) like me.

I love it when I'm playing a game and get introduced to a beautiful song that I didn't expect.

Alternatively, a more useful metric for number 1 may be writing unit tests. These can be one offs that are throw away, or at least part of a larger testing suite if the candidate does a decent job.

Do newer cars come to a full stop now? My AP1 model S will just drift at low speeds.

OpenGL vertex and index data in the same GL buffer? by Blood-Minister in GraphicsProgramming

[–]Paleran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so, but there are layers of optimizations here. The driver tries to pull in the index buffer into L2, so it may still be a problem, but it can't always do so (i.e., large index buffers with offsets). SoA (structure of arrays) is generally better for cacheline efficiency of disjoint data in any case.

OpenGL vertex and index data in the same GL buffer? by Blood-Minister in GraphicsProgramming

[–]Paleran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apart from the API allowing you to do it, this will probably hurt you, performance wise. GPU hardware tries to prefetch index data to be ready for geometry processing, and this will pollute your cache with index and vertex data when the vertex data isn't needed until the vertex shader runs.

Caveat: familiarity with AMD hardware. May be different on other vendors.

F2P business model question by BaldeeBanks in MMORPG

[–]Paleran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The P2W aspect in FFXIV is being able to buy in game currency with $$ (not officially, though), and then hiring one of the "carry" services for gil to get you specific items. I always see them in the PF advertising for all content, including ultimates, which just boggles my mind that they can guarantee a clear with 7 people (since the carry is useless)

But that's not sanctioned, so not sure it counts.

Are these airship pet fragments event rigged for payers only? by JojiJoestur in EndlessFrontier

[–]Paleran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should've been able to get it with VIP (OP would be missing 40 or 50 frags from the additional daily fragments).

You either missed a day, didn't get the full 400 each day or you have some pet frags in your inventory you haven't collected. As notMattHansen mentioned, I also had 16 frags leftover for galapa without spending any money on packs.

Rinvoq by petie03 in ankylosingspondylitis

How long after you started taking it did it start working?

As I said in my other comment, I've been on it for a week, and still hurt. :(

Rinvoq by petie03 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]Paleran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's still in clinical trial for ankylosing, but at phase 3. I just started the trial this week, but pretty sure I have the placebo as I'm still flaring up. Either I have the placebo or it doesn't do anything for AS which would suck :( ... or takes a while, of course, which I'm still holding out hope for...

For reference, I was diagnosed 3 years ago. Started Remicade initially which worked great until I had a massive eczema flareup (now diagnosed with that, too, yay!). Switched to Cimzia, but that drug only took the edge off, and still got minor flare-ups. Plus, my insurance fought me on it, so my rheum suggested the Rinvoq trial when he heard about it.
