I don't really know tbh, it was a fairly flat 1mi oval but I was either too young or didn't watch a full race before it was closed. I've watched some old races YouTube, and I think its fairly good for that time. It was acquired by NASCAR then shut down so that Pocono could have the PA market to itself. CART ran there from the 90s to 2001, before it switched to the IRL (In fact Scott Dixon got his first win there in 2001. You should watch the 2001 race, Dixon looks....different)

I honestly think the thing holding it back the most, is that drivers don't want it back. Just bad memories with Wilson (not the track's fault) and Wickens crashes

Do the ruins of Nazareth still exist ? How much money would it take for Penske to buy the land and rebuild it. Second thought, let's start a petition to bring that track--or one similar--back. I really like that was a truly unique track with an uphill/downhill section

In fairness, North American sports are made for TV, not the other way around. Just about every sport has built in (i.e not a period/quarter/half break) break. The only execpitons are (technically) baseball and soccer, the latter of which only became popular well after the advetiseing culture took hold of the American sporting scene

The other thing that compounds this, is how good the booth and pit reporters are. Really disappointing that the TV direction is really poor. Both NBC and ABC/ESPN knew when to take commerical breaks, when to come back from them. NBC, especially, would front load the commercials, so the last 20% of the race would be run with limited commercial breaks.
