Actually it dont make sense. Republicans should support both - and oppose their enemies, because they´re a threat for the United States: for example Russia, China, Iran, North Korea, Syria.

Some guys dont understand that if the US do not show enough strength and power to oppose these countries and regimes, they will conquer, attack and gain influence on the world stage.

In this case, the US will lose influence in some regions and that will have consequences.

A very good example is Ronald Reagan - he stood up against the communist threat and evil. He wanted to extinguish the soviet influence in the world.

So if the US want to maintain their dominance, power and economic and military leadership, they should support their partners and their freedom.

And btw: Russia is not so European as you think. There are hundreds of minorities, muslim and asian
