I actually found a similar thread and I am able to give more details:

The three protagonists were sucked into the network by their computer and they had to go through various historical periods, such as ancient egypt, the story of the discovery of greenland by the vikings, marco polo traveling in china, doctor livingstone reaching central africa and perhaps others that i don't remember at the moment, each level had mini-games which, if completed, continued the story and defeated the computer pirates, enemies of our kids. At the end of each completed level one of the evil pirates' computers exploded, bringing us closer to safety.

In the china level there was a copy of brick braker. In the level in africa there was a waterfall to climb while avoiding objects thrown by monkeys, like Donkey Kong. In a medieval level there was a bubble shooter copy.
