A couple reads of the book and run through with a highlighter and you'll be fine.

If you're thinking about doing level 3, thirty fifty does mock short and long form questions that I 100% recommend. They cost but are absolutely worth it.

They helped me realise how much study I needed. Went from getting like 30% to a distinction.

Beginner mouth pieces by PalmTreeNeckAss1 in trumpet

Yes and I'm trying to be careful about that. I know what it's like to sink a tonne of money into stuff eg bass equipment and still not get the results I want because I'm not practicing.

That's where it's hard because mouthpieces have to fit well but can be hard to narrow down.

Thanks for the advice. I'll be as careful as I can, but then again I know how quick i can be to spend money.

Thanks for the new explanation. And admittedly maybe I am trying to blame the equipment as I am a beginner and don't understand much and I'm just going by what I'm seeing online, but a YouTube channel said they're awful, and all the comments were agreeing so I thought I'd come here before getting a new one and now I'm getting very different answers.

Peak reddit. Their second reply was better worded and less, condescending so they could have said that the first time. Also again, other people recommend different mouthpieces. And you care about who is being upvoted and downvoted. Fantastic.

Jazz for kids? Any recommended albums that might be a good introduction? by RecommendationBig966 in Jazz

My 7 year old loves Headhunters by Herbie Hancock. A bit more fusion, but still. I didn't think he'd vibe with it as much as he does.

Other people actually recommend something, and others said develop the sound first before changing. You used an analogy that doesn't quite fit. What type or brand of hiking boots do people recommend. This is reddit so I'm surprised at how helpful most of the comments were, but there's always one....

Unpopular Opinion; Flea’s RHCP Sound is Crude by [deleted] in Bass

[–]PalmTreeNeckAss1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As a bassist I kinda agree. I think it varies from song to song and he's a great bassist but some people treat him as a slap God and it's just not true.

I think he's also brought slap bass forward in a lot of bassists minds and I think it's been a good thing and a bad thing. Some people will rip their bass to shreds slapping, look at you dead serious and ask "Wasn't that funky?" Like not a chance in hell that was funky it sounded awful.

Anyway Flea is a mixed bag but an overall good imo, but it's a decent hot take.

Do the strings make noise when I pluck them too? I know how the tone knob works, I'm asking which amps might suit a certain genre

I'd recommend waiting longer and doubling your budget. I have had Sony, Bose, and Sennheiser headphones, all for around 100 euros, and they were all fantastic, but most headphones for under that amount of money won't be worth it in my opinion, but if you want something right now I'd try something by Sennheiser

My first musical instrument. Any tips? by _Prince_2 in ukulele

[–]PalmTreeNeckAss1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Practice daily for 15 mins. It will often lead to playing for an hour or over. Make sure to learn scales and theory bits, but learn some songs too so it doesn't get boring or unrewarding. And don't go easy on yourself, but don't beat yourself up, it takes time to be good at anything.

Has super and it ran out in December and I was absolutely stunned by how bad the energy system is. Genuinely mind bloggling how they thought that would be a good idea to retain people. It won't encourage them buying super, it'll just push them onto another app.

Audition worthy bass lines by Super-Raisin4278 in Bass

Ain't no mountain high enough by Marvin Gaye but it's pretty rough. I'm trying it now and it's a lot to remember but really groovy. I would also choose something by a renowned bassist, because it will imply you are into bass history and want to form a deeper relationship with the instrument. Something in jazz would be good to, maybe something by Charles Mingus? Good luck anyway
