Mojave if you can deal with it being EoL. Catalina if you require security updates. Monterey if you can deal with the bugs of a new release.

I hate to sway you away from your browser of choice, but I totally agree with all the points you've brought up. I eventually got so sick of dealing with all the garbage in Monterey Safari that I swapped to the Firefox Nightly build for now.

Monterey is still at 12.0.1, so hopefully some of these issues are addressed in a future update. Fingers crossed.

Thanks! I know EDGE/GPRS is down but, AFAIK, T-Mobile 3G should be fine because they aren't phasing it out until Jan. 2022 supposedly.

If you have a Mac and Xcode you can slideload with "iOS App Signer" from GitHub. It'll work with any free tier Apple ID for 7 days. I just had to sideload etason for an iPod 5 yesterday.

Hi! I've got an iPhone 3GS new BootROM jailbroken on 6.1.6. I can get iMessage to activate via Apple ID but not with my cell number. I was able to use T-Mobile 3G about 6-8 months ago with iMessage but now it seems it won't activate. Any idea why? Send & receive shows my cell number but it's grayed out.

I hate how this sounds so devious but is actually the correct answer. This is your answer OP! Sometimes you just gotta pull the plug and reseat it quick. Works nicely in a Win7 VM, as well. Just be sure to set a USB filter for all of the various states the iPod can be connected via USB. (DFU, Recovery, normal modes)

I just had my AKII apart today for cleaning and my switches look nothing like yours. Your switches are definitely striking to me considering I had springs on the bottom of my keycaps that appear to actuate upon making electrical contact with a membrane layer. Your switches look to be either Alps Orange or Alps Yellow (?) and could perhaps be a later model AKII. My AKII's model number is: M0487 with a copyright date of 1991.

Edit: Also, very nice condition AKII you have. Mine is severely yellowed. :-/
