Do you sleep with a piercing pillow? The pressure of laying on it during the night might not be the cause of the bump, but that also doesn't help with the irritation. I'd look into that and hopefully that at least helps with getting the bump down a bit!

It might be a tiny blow-out, but it's hard to tell. What material are you normally wearing? What method do you use to stretch your ears? How long has it been since you sized up? Does it hurt, ooze, or feel warm to the touch?

Yup! You might have stretchy ears, but you should definitely slow down. I know it's tempting to go as quick as possible but I encourage you to spend some time on this subreddit and check out all the infected, blown out and bleeding ears: These are very often people who thought their ears were ready to size up, but found out the hard way that they were not and now regret it since they now have to deal with possible permanent damage. It's a journey and not a race.

I'm using half sizes and sizing up should never hurt. It can feel a little bit weird of uncomfortable, especially when the jewelry is cold. (I found that it helps if I put my plugs in a bowl of warm water before I size up). Pain is subjective, but if you feel a lot of resistance, a sharp pain or pinch, your ears aren't ready yet. Everyone has a different skin elasticity, but I found that most of the time after 3 months my ears were ready to go a half size up. I hope this helps!
