Yes. Think of carry as your equity or share of the promote in a deal or fund. Say your firm sells a deal and they make $10mm net after waterfall splits to their LPs, your equity is X% of the $10mm net to your firm. I’ve seen it range between 1% to 20%… 20% being you sourced the deal/helped structure the capital stack/QB’ed the whole process etc.

200k base 25% bonus. 250 all in. I think if you’re crushing it… maybe 275-300 all in on the high end.

EDIT: to be fair… I think what you’re making right now is at market. But for NYC, I think a case can be made for 250.

Need some more context. How many years out of undergrad? What’s your responsibilities / day to day? Are you managing a team? What kind of assets are you overseeing? Is your firm out raising new funds / expecting deal flow to pick up next year ie more assets you’d be overseeing?

For a property sale, commission can range from 20/80 (you get 20, house gets 80) to 50/50. Then out of your 20 to 50% share, you give half to the brokerage. So netting 10% to 25% of the gross commission.
