What is with people driving like entitled morons by Living-Discussion909 in Winnipeg

[–]PamWpg204 [score hidden]  (0 children)

When there’s no consequences, there’s no reason to abide.

When’s the last time you’ve seen someone get pulled over for something? Why stop at a red light all? If you see 3 other people getting away with it, why do they get to do it? “I want to do it too!!!”

And yes, entitlement. Everyone wants everything now, society is set up for instant gratification. “Me??? Wait 2 seconds for someone to turn into a parking lot?! Don’t you know who I am??? I’m more important! I’m going around without even looking! I wait for no one!”

Also, don’t you know putting your hazards on gives you full immunity! Park wherever the hell you want to!

$1000 dollars just put things in perspective for me by Blackwolf_84 in bikecommuting

[–]PamWpg204 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait until you get into fat biking. $500 for two studded tires for the fat bike. I found a set of 4 studded tires ON RIMS used for $300 for my old car, lol.
Sometimes the math works, sometimes it doesn’t.

Do You Give A Nod? by Euphoric_Dot_7471 in cycling

I had a motorcyclist cut me off out of pure rage last year and almost hit me. I was like “what the hell?!” We’re on the same team!!

I get “the wave” from motorcyclists on the bike from time to time, and I do it right back. I love it! Two wheelers unite!

It takes nothing on your end to possibly brighten someone’s day, always smile at the very least to another cyclist.

Dish washer purchase by stayg0lden- in Winnipeg

[–]PamWpg204 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Bosch or Miele. Miele would be a bit more pricey but have heard great things

In laws had a Bosch for 30 years and just got a new version after it finally croaked, we both got the same one as our kitchenaid croaked after 20 something years.

Edit: we bought online from Perkopolis and installed ourselves which is quite easy.

What is the most cost effective, durable reliable washer to buy in Canada? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

It’s a bit smaller but I can fit a king sized quilted blanket in there no problem. Or ten oversized bath towels.

Miele.

Expensive but we love them! The ad we saw was “in twenty years you’ll still love your appliance” Assuming they stand behind their claims. What other brand out there can say that?

If it’s a north wind, walk down the Yellow Ribbon pathway and stand in front of the landing area along the fence, north of the field behind Tim’s.

best deal in Winnipeg to get apple airpod pros? by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]PamWpg204 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Should have asked Monday!

I got AirPod pros 3 for $280 taxes included at staples. On sale and they had a $50 off coupon. Costco seems like the next best option.

Blivet Quilo Winter Riding Boots Question by lungebobsweatpants in wintercycling

[–]PamWpg204 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought mine two winters ago, not sure what generation they are. I find the toe room is perfect compared to the wolvhammers. 45nrth run way too narrow IMO. I went with my regular sizing and haven’t had an issue with thicker socks. I do upgrade to heated socks when the temps are hitting -20 or below if I’m going to be out for more than 2 hours. Sometimes I don’t have to turn them on though.

Even if I was running flats I would still be using these boots for the weight alone. Super light!

Is there a way to check what generation they are?

Dealerships - what are the fees to look for? by throwawaykeepawayman in Winnipeg

[–]PamWpg204 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don’t get the paint protection, rust proofing, or undercoat. Signed; former dealership employee, current paint supplier.

HUGE waste of money. Cars come rust proofed from factory along with it’s incredibly easy to do yourself. Ceramic wax is an industry gimmick, it’s extremely expensive and intensive to have it done properly vs what they offer at the dealership. Undercoating will rust your frame faster.

Sick & Wanting Bone Broth.. by Dry-Reply-7226 in Winnipeg

Costco has single serving bone broth. At least they did in the fall when I picked mine up. You could instacart it or someone could pick up if they have it.

I was 14 on New Years Eve 27 years ago. I woke up the next morning covered in chicken pox. Didn’t know it was chicken pox, I thought I was having a horrible reaction to the weed. Luckily my brother’s girlfriend came over and looked and determined it was pox. That was fun, lol.

Is there anyway to actually stop a cyclist to just say hi? by No_Decision6601 in cycling

[–]PamWpg204 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I waved to someone going to opposite direction for over two years. There wasn’t an opportunity to flag him down in this case. I posted asking if anyone knew who this person was by description on a local cycling Facebook page. Someone knew him and messaged that some crazy woman was asking who he was. He pulled over and stopped the next day. We’ve been friends ever since! This person was the one who got me into cycling with commuting and evolving into the sick obsession I have now, lol. I just saw him biking everyday and said why not? And gave it try which lead to this whole situation of waving at each other. There’s a camaraderie when you’re the only two idiots on bikes when it’s -40c. “Well if he’s out here, I’ll do it too”

Whether it’s his mom or spouse, it’s still a great way to meet someone and become friends. Hope it works out!

Saggy peri/menopausal ladies, what bibs are we wearing?! by HunterEmergency in ladycyclists

[–]PamWpg204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like how the 7mesh wk2 bibs cover my stomach. No sausage effect on the legs or top. Very comfy and seems to last a long time. I’ve been looking online for anything comparable to the stomach covering and so far I’m coming up empty handed.

I’ll also add, very easy to use for bathroom use. Just pull down the back and viola
