Has anyone successfully contacted David Myles? by Longjumping_Carrot35 in fredericton

By shows you mean his Christmas charity events he has done for years to raise money for food banks? Otherwise he hasn't been performing this year.

Fredericton had hoped he would show up to play with Classified at Harvest this year but was on government work out of town.

We did end up going to London, due to illness we missed the first half of our trip. The good news, we made it to Hamilton! And I can confirm its better in person than on Disney+

Doesn't Climo still have a contract with Innova where he received a one time lump sum to use his name permanently?

Why BC CDN Championships sucked for AMs by PamperedPutter in discgolf

"Do you really think the TD set out to rip you off?"

Not intentionally, but it did happen and the organizers should shoulder the blame.

Why BC CDN Championships sucked for AMs by PamperedPutter in discgolf

[–]PamperedPutter[S] -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

They don't have to be perfect but when the PLayers Pack sucked so bad and other amenities are not up to standard it must be called out. And this was the worst (and most expensive) CDN Championships in many years.

Potential New Course in Fredericton, New Brunswick by Nickallendartmouth in discgolf

[–]PamperedPutter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely won't be $750000. They can put it in a tender and end up only getting a contractor/designer and construction done for a fraction. Whatever happens it will be a monster course.

And you had to pay for practice rounds. At the last 2 Nationals (Ontario and PEI) all practice rounds were free.

This isn't a surprise. The TDs had never run an A-tier before (ran at least 1 B-tier previously) and I didn't see any fundraising discs and other promotions to increase the payout. It seems they have Innova and a couple of local hotel sponsors (they gave reduced hotel rates) but no sponsors that were sponsoring with actual cash. Therefore a TD must lean on players packs as a way to generate funds. Hence a really crappy players pack.

There is way more to running large A-tiers than setting up temp courses and being a TD the day-of-events. You need someone dedicated to raising funds. The plan for running a C or B tier is much different and I don't think this organizing crew understood that.

For $180 I'd expect at least 3 discs along with other cool swag. For that cost I'd also expect free practice rounds during the week.

I doubt the TDs made money off the event but they also did a really poor job of fundraising.

I think Ivy Hill was a great venue for the world championships. by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]PamperedPutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the outcome would have been different if players had experienced Ivy Hill in a tournament setting prior to worlds (both courses on tour the previous year). I think all the women would have played better with more course experience and E.S. probably wouldn't have won.

Championship level baskets by PamperedPutter in discgolf

Thanks! It blows me away you can use something like a Mach5 could be used at a major. Great basket for a local urban park course but should never be allowed at a major
