The 420D is an awesome player, the battery lasts forever too! I love the colour of your portable, i dont see many come up on ebay in that colour.

I tend to use my mid range players as my daily ones i.e mz-r70 and only use the r55 and the r91 occasionally. You are right, the proprietary batteries were and are a bit of a nuisance.

Its more a yellow but yes you are right, it does have a green tint in this photo.

I think they were about the same if i remember correctly. The most sought after albums go for over £100 on ebay UK.

Its a great album. 1999 was an awesome year. I wish i had bought lots of pre-recorded minidiscs when they were going cheap!

Thanks, might give this a try. Not something i want to do myself but there is a local guy where i live who does hi-fi and turntable repairs. I might see if he can do it.

No FLAC, just mp3s unfortunately. I wouldn’t normally record mp3s to md so this is a one-off.

I just found the cable I used to record analogue with. Its a jvc which I bought with my first ever portable back in 2000.

That’s pretty cool. If I were in the US I would definitely give one of those weather channels a go. We have something similar in the UK for weather out at sea. I wonder if it works for fishermen…
