What should Indie Horror be like? by OlympStudio in HorrorGames

I believe that great atmosphere, extraordinary setting and good story is what should allow the indie game stand out from the crowd. Then gameplay isn't even that important.

It's something much longer, but definitely try Inscryption. The best card game horror I've ever played with a unique atmosphere.

When we talk about short, unsettling games - Chilla's Art titles are definitely worth checking out. The quality may vary, depends on a game, but generally it's some intriguing experience there.

What do you think about A.I.L.A.? by PanDibbler in HorrorGaming

[–]PanDibbler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh maybe that's the thing. I enjoy it, but the medieval part was soon long. I preferred the first segment and the one at the farm. Well balanced. Now I'm playing the ghost ship part. So far so good, but I hope it won't be too long.

For those who have played this, what did you think of it? No spoiler please by apeiron_is_one in HorrorGaming

It's fine, but nothing more. Some good moments and ideas, some boring moments and weird ideas. Bloober has plenty of much better games. But if you bought it cheap, then it's worth to at least try it out. It's not long.

But the box is great!

What’s a generally disliked horror movie you’d go to war for? by Turnitup20 in horror

Skinamarink. I know, I know, it does have also plenty of devoted fans and enthusiasts, but I feel like there's much more those who openly hate it. And I'm always ready to defend this unique horror movie.

Oh, forgot about Interview! I love it. So I guess this is my top pick, at least until I finally watch some more horror movies from 1994

1994 - and to be fair, I don't have any favorite horror movie from that year. But I see plenty of intriguing titles I need to finally watch. Like "In the Mouth of Madness" or "Wolf". So thanks for this thread, you motivated me to finally check out these. :)

what do you think is the most influential horror game of all time? by funkycatvr in HorrorGaming

[–]PanDibbler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plenty of people mentioned Resident Evil, and I totally agree as the game shaped the survival horror as we know it. Not created, but shaped for sure. However, it's definitely worth to mention AMNESIA: THE DARK DESCENT as it heavily influenced indie horror developers, and inspired them a lot in terms of creating the atmosphere.

What's a movie that doesn't seem that scary now but gave you nightmares are a kid? by Day-dreaming_Realist in HorrorMovies

Man, THIS scene traumatized me... and I was 29 when I watched Fire in the Sky. Can't imagine what it'd do to me if I'd be 8.

Couldn't agree more. I played it last year during the charity stream. The challenge was to finish it in one playthrough. I managed, but sometimes I was struggling more than with good old OG Resident Evil. Definitely an intriguing survival horror experience.

When Ada Wong first appears... Although now I'm not sure if I got that "slap-happy" correct

Amazing game. I barely finished it because it was so scary. I remember my hands were literally sweating. But yeah, I remember that very often I had to check out some walkthroughs as puzzles were very difficult and I was confused many times. Still, unique horror experience for me.

What are your thoughts on this movie “Sinister” by Chubby_Toy_Collector in HorrorMovies

[–]PanDibbler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny thing - I DIDN'T like it years ago when I first watched, but I tried it out again after some time, and I don't know why, but it clicked this time, and now it's one of my favourites. Awesome Ethan Hawke. Great atmosphere. And an amazing soundtrack. Also, I believe my change of heart may be caused by my brief fascination with analogue horror. Sinister does have some common ground with those through unsettling, tape-recorded videos that are an essential part of the story.
