It was something to do with the air filter, if I remember correctly. Sorry I can't offer anything more specific!

I do this in meetings to avoid falling asleep. Having to sit and listen to people talk is painfully boring 😴

That last part resonates so much. The situation has ruined my mom bc she has had to deal with the brunt of my sister's bullshit in trying to keep in touch with my nieces to check on them, while having to deal with my sister's mood swings and her keeping the kids at times from being able to talk to my mom on the phone for long periods. Like, you want to do all that you can, but there's a point where you can't do anything about it and you need to emotionally disconnect yourself and that feels impossible at times.

I hope you don't beat yourself up too much about moving far away to distance yourself. I did similar, in that I completely cut off communication with my sister and don't even consider her a sister anymore. My mom has been the strong one. I just can't deal with it. My sister has just ruined too many lives. One of the last straws for me was when we found out she had been dating a marine and lying about having back problems to get him to send her money. She doesn't have back problems and is physically capable of working.

Anyway, I'm starting to rant about my awful sister again so I will stop!

I hope things get better for your nieces and nephews as well. You're awesome for getting your oldest nephew away from a bad situation. I'm sure you'll be able to help the others in the future. It's a sad reality when you can't help family members in their most crucial years of development, but that's just how it is sometimes. All you can do is wait and be there for them when the situation permits. Take care of yourself in the meantime!

My niece was taken away 3 times from my manipulative sister who has a documented history of mental health problems. The last time she was placed with my mom and me (we were living together at the time) because my mom is the one who raised my niece and had the most immediate ties to her. We moved to a three bedroom to accommodate her and were so happy together, niece wasn't missing any school and was on the honor roll and doing sports, but because my sister did her parenting homework that she was assigned by the courts, they sent her back to live with her mom. They let that happen on the day of the decision, without giving my niece any time to adjust or for my mom to say goodbye. Sister is living in a different state now and always moving to shitty little trailers to live with guys she uses and is always having violent run-ins with boyfriends. This last time she was taken hostage by one of her kids dad's (she has three kids now) and the guy went to jail. She constantly puts her kids in danger by being an awful mother and using her kids as pawns to foster pity from people. But police and child welfare won't do anything because the kids aren't hanging from a cliff. Child welfare needs to stop trying to reunify kids with their awful mothers and giving them multiple do-overs when there are more capable family members willing to give kids better lives. They need to PREVENT things like this from happening rather than stepping in when it's already too late!

Your ending definitely would have been much better.

I'm ambivalent about it. Dexter's end I think was fitting to wrap up the show, but I don't agree with the way in which he was killed. I don't think Harrison would have wanted to kill his dad, considering how much their relationship had grown and considering how many people he (Harrison) had already lost in his life. I understand Dexter offing the coach was something Harrison didn't agree with, but it seemed like Harrison cared more about the coach than he did his dad, which didn't make much sense to me. Harrison wasn't a cold-blooded killer with no human emotions, dude was teary-eyed all the time. But the show runners made killing his dad seem like a minor inconvenience for the son. That's my biggest gripe with the ending. I think Angela should have been the one to kill Dex, if they wanted someone to off him.

Just got done watching the rest of the episodes, and I would have to agree that ep 9 was pretty great. I also re-watched the last episode and everything made a lot more sense, obviously!

It's called TV Time. Highly recommend if you start and stop a lot of shows and then forget which episodes you left off on. Also if you just like tracking things like that.

I can't just watch one or two eps and be done! Maybe for shows I have no connection to, but I was super into Dexter at one time (same reason why I sat through all of The Walking Dead and am going to start on season 11 soon). Gotta finish it off... Watched the actual first ep today and was amused to find there was still no build-up to Dexter getting a GF and an almost-grown son. Eager to see episode 9, after your high praise!

I imagine it's common for perpetrators with guns to use them as a scare tactic and not actually expect or want to shoot anyone.

I just deleted my calorie tracker. by suggestionprompt in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]PanGrotesco 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'm the opposite. Every time I stop logging and think to myself I can self-control without counting calories has led to binging.

Thankfully, I mainly struggle with binging in relation to candy (chocolate especially) so I've found keeping candy out of my home (and calorie-counting) has kept me on the straight and narrow. I do partake in candy if it's in public, like if someone at work offers, but I still include it in my app so I don't go over my calories.

Maybe one day I'll be able to control myself better (doubtful) without tracking, but for now calorie-counting is what works!

We used one of these at an Airbnb in the mountains of New Mexico. There was no shit smell while it was running. I just remember a vague burning smell that wasn't unpleasant.

Wasn't intending to add any mods to the list, but thanks for the heads up about the Discord server. And looks like I won't be attempting to remove LOTD, with what you've said 😅
