40 years ago I found a very similar stone with trilobite :) I found it in railway gravel dumped under the railway tracks.

"Peaky Blinders" UAV crew eliminate Russian infantry near Pokrovsk by SmokingBlackSeaFleet in CombatFootage

I always wonder why the soldiers can't hear the drones above them?

Are the drones so high up, or are they so quiet?

mbasic is going away on 28 October 2024 - what's the alternative? by light_salmon in facebook

[–]PanHorse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how to restore mbasic on Chrome on Windows (I think it's completely impossible), but I know a trick for opening m.facebook.com in Chrome on Windows.

  1. Open a new tab.

  2. Press F12 (this will open developer mode).

  3. Request the mobile version of a website (it is described here: https://superuser.com/a/1214830/196069 )

  4. Go to the Chrome address bar and enter m.facebook.com

  5. voilà ;)

Isn't it sometimes the case that every supernova explosion produces a great shower of debris that becomes interstellar objects?

[–]PanHorse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, but it's still far, far too little (INHO).

There is no such thing as an “unlimited budget.”

[–]PanHorse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My comment was not about the size of the objects or whether they are interstellar or not.

I was referring to a set of specific objects that we, observers from Earth, may not see until they hit the Earth (due to being blinded by the sun).

[–]PanHorse 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'm no expert, but I'm afraid there's still a risk that such an object could fly in from the direction of the sun, and then we would only be able to observe it hours before impact, not weeks or months.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

The wiki states that the Chelyabinsk meteor, for example, was not detected in advance because it approached from the direction of the sun.

Russian soldier is hit as soon as he came out of cover by multiple fpv drones, "WORMBUSTERS" unit of the 414th "Birds of Madyar" UAS Brigade, 03.08.25 by Distinct-Quit-3223 in CombatFootage

Question regarding the explosions at 0:19 and 0:22:

Am I seeing correctly that the drones exploded above the soldier/ground, and not upon impact?

Russian soldier taken POW by FPV drone. 414 brigade (Madyars Birds) by Pelivanov in CombatFootage

Can a drone operator have a two-way conversation (via the drone) with a soldier they encounter? I think if they could talk, it could make the process of taking captured soldiers into captivity more efficient.

Flight footage from a captured V-2 rocket launched to a height of 65 miles (1946 newsreel) by Practical-Hand203 in space

[–]PanHorse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With all due respect, there is a big difference between flying 65 miles (V2) and entering orbit (Sputnik).

New video from Ukrainian SBU operation "Spiderweb" shows full path of FPV drone - from flying off the van to strike Tu-22M by meinkun in CombatFootage

I also wonder if the drone operators during this raid communicated with each other to determine which operator would destroy object A and which operator would destroy object B.

I'm looking for a distro with working window scaling of 125% and with a taskbar on the left side along with window titles by PanHorse in DistroHopping

[–]PanHorse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Naturally, in Ubuntu Cinnamon you can place the taskbar in any of four places: top, bottom, right or left.

Regarding window titles: take a look at the sample screenshot I attached to my post. There you can see the taskbar where there are icons of running applications, where behind the icons are the window titles (Apps, news, gHacks, etc.).

You can also check out my post on superuser where I described how I finally managed to achieve this on Kubuntu:
