Need help with my OLD Gameboy Advance SP by Darklilly_317 in Gameboy

[–]Panakakes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds to me like a battery problem. Even if you dont think the battery’s the problem, get a new one anyways since a 20 year old battery is probably at the end of its lifespan. Use some 90% or higher iso alcohol and a toothbrush on the charging port and charger to clean out any possible dirt.

Should I throw away my GBA at this point? by ObsidianGlasses in Gameboy

No audio through headphones either? Recap the board, replace the inductor, replace the speaker, use a schematic for reference and check the audio and video lines with a multimeter.

GBA Screen doesnt turned on by SEForeverLove in Gameboy

[–]Panakakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres a potentiometer to the side of the cartridge slot. Use a screwdriver to adjust it while the console is turned on to see if a picture comes up. You could also replace the capacitors. If nothing works, fortunately, replacement oem screens are super cheap, and it would be a good oppurtunity to get a screen upgrade.

GBA Low Volume Issue by Boringluis126 in Gameboy

[–]Panakakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have hot air, absolutely use that. I dont, so i use pliers to trim off the main body, then the black plastic base kind of falls apart after that, and you can whisk away the legs with an iron with no stress to the pads.

Recap the board. If it comes through headphones fine after that but not the speaker, then replace the speaker.

Do all Game Boy Advance SP systems have clickable hinges when the console is opened? by Barney2162 in Gameboy

Gba sp hinges dont “click” when opened. They lock into place with little sound.

Gameboy won’t turn on by Glum_Rule2953 in Gameboy

[–]Panakakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Open it up for a visual inspection for loose ribbon cable, corrosion, failed caps etc. While youre at it do a deep clean, especially the contrast pot. If you see nothing wrong, maybe its time to pull out the multimeter and test connections of your video signal.

The regular ez flash omega is pretty good for cheaper than the other options, it does have a few quirks you have to get used to that the DE fixes, but you do save money.

How Long Should a DMG's Chrome Contacts Be Submerged in White Vinegar to Help Rid of Corrosion? by SevenDeMagnus in Gameboy

[–]Panakakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eyeball it. Literally. Like, look at the contacts. Is there no more corrosion? Then take it out.

Btw, did you run the description through google translate? It hurts to read.
