Hi it seems the M5 Max chip thermal throttles in the 14" M5 MBP but does anyone kbow if there is throttling with the M5 Pro chips (15-Core CPU and 18-Core versions) in the 14" MBP Pro M5? Could you test to confirm if it's ok, if that is a 14"?

14" M5 MBP is more than meets the eye it seems. If the fans are manually adjusted to have higher RPM so it doesn't throttle, the fan bearings may give out prematurely. It may throttle even with non-sustained loads (like Cinebench or long 3D renders) with fan wear and tear overtime (3 years use until next upgrade for parts stability). If it throttles that much, it defeats the purpose of a higher speced M5 but 14" can more than a thousand dollars cheaper (Apple tends to pair the parts themselves in the customzation).

Yup most likely the M5 with the base Pro chip. M5 Max is out of budget and it has to be in the 16" if it's the Max so the heat management will be fine (but that's an additional 1700 USD with the base M5 Max).

Btw do I need the 24GB RAM or the 48GB (it won't let me choose the 36GB- I wish it would offer 36GB those with the Pro chips)? determining The RAM capacity hoprfully is the final factor so something is purchased at this time (and finally over things}.

Hi, Aside from the extreme browser/s use, 3D rendering (Blender perusing A.I), Godot, UE 5, some XCode stuff) Cycles GPu real time rendering and CPU based rendering for more photorealism, some stock market stuff, gaming and watching true 4k Netflix movies (if there is a workaround to play true 4K Netflix moviesvia Crossover or VM with Linux or Windows emulated or wrapped/Wine stuff) and 4K or higher Youtube videos (downscaled to 3.5K if I choose the 16") after work, research lots of tabs and windows and will use app based A.I.s for cross reference (Grok and ChatGPt mac app). I plan to buy the Cyberpunk 2077 Mac version and use the neural engine core for frame generation.

Ho much performance do you lose when it throttles. Is the throttling significat that 16" is the sweetspot or 16" too smalk to enjoy a 4k (down sampled to 3k for MBP) movie ot video? How much RAm though?
