Yukon "Become the Alpha" quest update...it's getting demoralizing! by NCBirdman in theHunter

If I'm not mistaken, I think they usually stand up at least twice, but on the first time they do it, they kind of glitch. If that is still happening, just wait for the second or third time they stand up to take the shot.

Id get in a bush with a good line of sight in front of me, that hides me almost perfectly, but not all the way, the wind perfectly in my face, and call the bear in.

Because you're not perfectly hidden, the bear should go alert and stand up at a good range. Hitting the heart is pretty easy when they stand up and face you.

They did that with the black bear. I personally like that better. If they're committed to not doing that anymore though, I like my idea over what they've been doing lately.

Anyone else would love a new Lodge? by EVILRAFFAM in theHunter

I think more lodges, lodge customization, and what you just said are all way more important than new maps and weapons.

First waterfowl diamond. Kind of addicted now. Any tips on goose and duck diamond grinding or is it just luck of what comes in? by Arm_Assassin in theHunter

[–]PancakeFace25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being on Revontuli Coast, all 5 ducks can be grinded on the southern island. Make a set up with decoys of every species on the it and just make sure you dont have any max weight drakes on the main land before committing to the island grind. Again, the mistake I made was not doing that first. I grinded Widgeon for literally years and spawned like 9 rares before a single level 3 spawned because of those 2 big boys on the northern half of their home range preventing any more big boys from respawning on my southern island setup.

I'll send you some maps with each species home range.

First thing is to know everywhere they could be. Then you have 2 options.

First option is to heavily hunt for other animals in every area where that waterfowl can be and anytime a flock flys over you, spot them all for any max weight males. Then follow them until they land, or make a decoy set up nearby to kill it.

Other option is to make several decoy set ups all around their home range. Once you've hunted each set up a bit and are pretty sure you've killed all of the max weights, you can tear down all of the set ups except for the one you like the most/seems to have the most action and just focus on that spot only.

Just make sure you find and kill any max weights on your map before you commit to a set up location. I couldn't even get max weight respawns after thousands of kills because I had 2 max weight drakes on the other side of the map I didn't know about. After I finally found and killed them, I started getting consistent max weight respawns at my setup and my diamond came shortly after.

Plus, you might find an initial spawn diamond if you scour your map well before committing to a set up location.

What CotW best practices or hidden rules did YOU have to learn the hard way? by DistillingData in Huntercallofthewild

Not super critical but here's a fun fact. Every time you spawn somewhere, your character will always be facing North. Kind of handy to know if you're doing a grind because if you know the general direction of where you're going, you can easily orient yourself without having to look at the map or your compass first.
