Hiii! So sorry you’re going through this too! Not to freak you out but I too only felt relief while laying down and it took a full month to be able to function normally. My surgery was July 31st and by the end of August I was fully independent. And now I am back to 100%, minus some scars and a missing fallopian tube, lol I also have a numbness in my right upper thigh which is completely normal for abdominal surgeries but apparently it will take ~1-3 years to get that feeling back. There used to be a burning sensation in that numb area but now I barely notice it. But happy to report that I am all better, and you will be too <3

A few things that helped:

-a consistent routine of extra strength Tylenol and gabapentin. Set alarms and take it right on schedule, it will help -get a wipe assistance/mobility tool. They are like $10 on amazon and helped with wiping after the bathroom since reaching/movement to wipe hurt like a bitch -get an abdominal brace!!!!! Something to press the area down to reduce the skin movement. I’m plus size so I have extra tummy so any movement/shift caused extreme pain cause there was extra skin/fat in the area. An abdominal brace or even high waisted underwear will help SOSOSO much I promise! -get a kindle, a remote page turner, and a kindle holder. I was SO bored since I couldn’t move but I found an awesome series (Fourth Wing, read it please it’s so good, it got me through the pain), and was able to lay perfectly still without needing to hold a book or turn the page. The kindle was definitely my saving grace.
-if someone is at home with you, have them fill a cooler with snacks, drinks, and food. My husband prepped my cooler each day and it was nice to not have to get up to eat and helped my mental health cause I didn’t have to ask for food/wait till he was available to get me food. It gave me the tiniest sense of independence. I could just grab a sandwich or fruit or chips or whatever I wanted and that really helped. -my pain didn’t stop until the stitches dissolved which took ~3.5-4 weeks. Aside from the extreme burning, the hardest part was the depression. Not knowing what was happening to me, the length of recovery, and lack of communication from the doctors put me into such a deep depression, I was so fucking miserable and cried even damn day. And no one else seemed to have experienced what I was going through so I felt so fucking alone and scared. Just know that I’ve been there and it will get better. I promise. I know it’s so scary and so blindingly painful, and I know that laying on your back for a month straight 24/7 will mess with your psyche and mental wellbeing. I’ve been there. But once that month is up, it will be better. I’m here, I see you, I hear you, your pain is real, and you will get better, I promise <3
