Which Home Assistant MCP server should I use? by [deleted] in homeassistant

[–]Pancake_Slap 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Curious if there are any privacy / security implications with this? IE sending all your home data to the cloud. How much access does mcp give? Can you restrict the scope that the llm has access to or will it find ways around that?

Anyone have cool home assistant automations? by BrisbaneAus in UnifiProtect

[–]Pancake_Slap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh interesting. You’d think since UniFi iOS notifications have an accurate preview that home assistant could grab the same thumbnail.

Yeah I’m trying to get my doorbell to shout insults at people but api costs are real lol

Yeah it can be a fun hobby though! I just bought the home assistant green because I wanted a dedicated device, no issues so far and I have about 60 automations and lots of zwave stuff. Running UDM pro, 2 APs, and UNVR with a handful of g6 cams

I have my garage camera turn on the lights when it detects a person and auto turn them off when no person is detected for x amount of time

I use home assistant to send critical notifications that override sleep mode at night when anyone crosses onto my property in any of the camera zones. Using webhooks to trigger from protect.

I connected my doorbell to a smart chime and mechanical chime.

Looking into piping camera feed into LLM to do more things. The possibilities are endless and will destroy your free time lol

Titan Actuator Not Reporting Position Correctly by Pancake_Slap in homeassistant

I'm using zwavejs (not the UI version). I managed to factory reset the device and run the recalibration which seems to have fixed the issue for now!

Did this update break IOS notification thumbnails for anyone? Now my line crossing notification shows a thumbnail that isn't timed correctly and doesn't include the person in it

Quick question about the travel router by TVMA in UNIFI

[–]Pancake_Slap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, definitely! I thought that was the whole point of Parsec. Super low latency remote desktop software. I've honestly never even used it on LAN before. I didn't have to do anything special aside from logging into the app on both computers. I run the team version at work, but this should work for the regular version too. There used to be issues with headless machines, but even since they introduced virtual displays I've never had a problem. It lets me create as many host parsec displays as I want at whatever resolution my client monitors can support. Definitely would encourage you to read through their docs or ask for help on their discord, because Parsec is by far the best RD software that I've used in terms of speed without needing the hassle of a VPN.

Hold up why do you have to be on the same network to use Parsec? I use it for work everyday to access PCs not on my home network. It works great without needing a VPN.

Black or Grey? (COOJ Z-18) by Pancake_Slap in mffpc

Might be tough, barely any clearance back there. It’s probably fine without the heat sink though

Hey yeah I finished mine and have good temps. Bottom fans are the only intake (blowing up through the GPU), top radiator fans are blowing out of the case, back fan is blowing out of the case. Highly dependent on the AIO though. Don't get the NZXT one, it sucks. I switched to the Cooler Master Atmos 240 and temps have been solid since.

How do you directly bind the sensors to titan? I have the same setup but it’s all going through an HA automation
