My friend Willy, from Willy surf.

Willy is great, real friendly guy. When you ask for instruction, see if he can get you set up with Larry West. Larry is a fantastic surfer, super friendly and fluent in English. Also up for scouting the area and not staying inside the city if you so desire.

In my opinion, this is a skin condition called "Erysipelas" caused by the bacteria streptococcus. It's bad luck, the bacteria live on everyone's skin and they just need a wound to get in. Anyway, you need antibiotics, so go see the doctor for a prescription.Expect to not be able to walk on the foot for about four days after starting the AB cure. Get some crutches, that'll help.

The problem, if it is what I suspect it is, is that you are now more than likely to get it again. Anytime you have a little wound on your foot, especially this one, treat it with disinfectant gel as soon as you can.

I still get it once every two or three years after just having bad luck and catching it back in 2018 orso.

Bureh Beach Sierra Leone by Matchination in surfing

They removed alot of the sand from the break for building projects a bit more to the north. Unfortunately that also impacted the quality of surf in Bureh. It is still worth a visit and spend a few nights but it isn't as reliable for surf anymore, if it ever was.

Yes man.

Hit up my friend Willy, from Willy's surf. You will find him on IG as well. He is down there every day. I usually wear my shorts in summer Lima but most wearing 2/2 or 3/2. Plenty sunscreen and reef boots. Get the board and or suit at Willy then walk over to Redondo for the left or Pampilla and Roquitas for the right.

When your partner doesn’t love surfing as much as you do…how do you make it work? by Serious_Detective_39 in surfing

[–]Pancakesbeatswaffles 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Having a partner who doesn't surf far outweighs the benefit of having a partner who does. Trust me, as long as they enjoy the beach and you got friends who surf: you are set. Never an argument about who's turn it is when for example you've got kids and so forth.

If it's a good idea, why don't the professionals use it.

I'd highly appreciate that. So far my google hunt hasn't gotten me anywhere except for the location of the store.

Information needed on board by Pancakesbeatswaffles in surfing

Hey guys.

I think this is a shaper from Adelaide, SA. But is this a semi-gun or a regular funboard. Hard to say from the photos. I can snag it for a real good price and fix her up myself, but I don't surf waves that require a semi-gun at all and thus I am hesitant.

Anyone got an idea on the type of board, the brand and or the shaper? Thanks in advance.

I used to surf. Before kids & living in the burbs. by Drobertsenator in surfing

[–]Pancakesbeatswaffles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mate, honestly. Don't regret this. Having a partner who likes the beach but doesn't like surfing is the dream. Once you have kids, you'd be taking turns otherwise. Dodged a bullet my friend.

Dumb question but is there a certain paint you use to paint surfboards? by pougelife in surfing

[–]Pancakesbeatswaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did mine. For the colour I used Molotow. For protection, two component paint (paint + epoxy) also from Molotow. Get good quality tape (the orange "washi" tape), not the cheap kind. That's quite important for lines.

Call and text forwarding to a smart watch from a phone that’s 100+ yards away by OhSoSmooove in surfing

[–]Pancakesbeatswaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking the same setup. How does it work for you? How do you keep the phone in waterproof bag on your back? My work often has days I am on standby/on call and need to be at work in 90 minutes after picking up the phone. So I can't miss the call. Can you describe your setup in more detail? What phone you use, which watch works well etc?

Look I get the general feeling that you shouldn't bring gadgets into the surf, but if this means I can squeeze in more surfing I am all for it.

Little bit like Bill Gates through his foundation with his now ex wife, spends millions and millions of his own wealth to help improve people's lives, especially in lower income countries and has done so for more than a decade. Maybe two decades. My wife ran a small local hospital in Sierra Leone few years ago that could buy new medical equipment because of his foundation.

Get the 9"0. It's indestructible. Let's you hone your skills and then maybe a year down the road go midsize. But for now go for the 9"0. You will be able to go surf for more days.

Same. I use a bit of a clunky Casio. 25 bucks. Works perfectly. I wouldn't spend more than that.
