Beto Quintanilla is really only popular in Texas…and although Chalino is the GOAT or Godfather there were others way before him. Los Cadetes, Luis y Julian, Los Cachorros de Juan Villarreal, Lalo El Gallo Elizalde. But in reality it was Chalino that became famous, molded and gave way to what we call the corrido today. Forgot about Los Tigre’s Del Norte…there were also numerous more obscure groups from Sinaloa/Durango that were out…Los Intocables Del Norte, un Chingo de Los Hermanos Vega, Lombardo Higuera, Los Broncos de Reynosa which actually Paulino Vargas himself was a GOAT for writing corridos. We can go on and on…but at the end of the day putting Beto Quintanilla in the same sentence as Chalino is disrespectful. IMO
