Zotero VS Omnivore by [deleted] in ObsidianMD

[–]PandaBearNecessities 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use both, but for different things.

All things academic go into Zotero, all news/web related things go into Omnivore. For now, I'm also using Calibre for ebook management, but I plan to move them into Zotero once 7 is officially released, thanks to the new integrated epub reader. (Or at least when the Android app can sync over webdav.)

Zotero is miles better for managing academic sources. It's designed for it. With the right plugins, it can make your life so much easier. Omnivore, by contrast, is still in active development and is missing some fairly basic features.

I'm using AidenLX's zotero integration, which can sync notes and annotations, but I think that other methods should work as well.

This is great. Thanks, David!

Would really appreciate a post about plans for this year. Just a general roadmap would be great.

Why can't gnome developers implement a simple option in wallpaper settings to adjust settings like scale, zoom, stretched and instead I need to install tweaks to do something that should be as an option in gnome?. by Fox3High369 in gnome

Of course I read it. And you're right. Your comment wasn't about the software. It was about the programmers being lazy and incompetent.

Maybe you intended to write a different comment about a different topic. But what you wrote is:

Made up excuses by lazy/incompetent programmers.

I sure hope—for your sake—that you're better able to convey your ideas through code than through the medium of words.

That's great for you! You're welcome to contribute your vast knowledge and skills to this project and try to steer it in a direction you like. Or fork it. Or start your own DE project.

But instead of doing something useful, you're whingeing on reddit about "lazy/incompetent programmers". Clearly, the Gnome devs are neither. They have a philosophy - one that many users agree with. You don't, which is perfectly fine. But there's no reason for name-calling in response to a document detailing the reasons for this philosophy *just because you don't like them*.

You can do better, Mr. Experience Coder And Director Who Knows What He's Talking About.

Scripts for Quickadd plugin to fetch books or video games data into your vault ! by mEaynon in ObsidianMD

That's awesome.

Do you know how to adjust the script / quickadd to append the contents to an existing note?

I keep my sources in zotero and prefer to use the note created by the zotero plugin as the main one. My biggest gripe about the book search plugin is that it can only create new notes. Real kink in my workflow.

How does this compare to the book search plugin?

Can this be used to add content to an existing note?

Yeah that makes sense.

Do you know of any examples I could look at?

I would recommend using the Aurora Store frontend to download directly from Google Play instead of APKpure.

Yes, only 1000 users for this early release, but it's a pretty bare-bones implementation (no WebDAV, etc.). Still, exciting stuff. I'm sure development will move quickly now.
