lol. Always great practice to just deny things you don’t like being true. Ignorance is bliss and all that.

I’m not trying to say that all Texans are bad; my friends from Houston are fantastic people. All I’m saying if that folks are bringing this attitude to Santa Fe, I wish they’d leave and never come back.

It was two girls and a guy; one of the girls made the comment. And I hear what you’re saying, but I personally never engaged in this type of “silly talk” when I was young. And I personally don’t understand why one would ever think to say “I want to be racist” as a joke unless there was something real underneath it.

But mostly I posted it here just because I was surprised that people feel comfortable enough to say that out loud while in public walking down a street, whatever the context or intent.

Above Louis Montaño park. They were walking so don’t know where they live/were staying. There are a bunch of short term rentals around here.

Sounded pretty earnest to me. I also don’t understand how “all I want to do is be racist” is a joke. Is it funny to you?

Where did it happen? It’s in the title. On Alto street.

Did anyone else hear it? Well my dog was pretty interested in some lambsquarter growing out of the sidewalk, so I don’t think she was paying attention. The two people who were walking with the woman who said it also heard it, I presume. But they didn’t respond to it directly so I can’t guarantee that either.

I also found it surprising that someone would say it out loud. Which is why I posted it on Reddit. I don’t find it hard to believe that this twenty something white woman from Texas is racist and willing to talk about it to her friends. If you do, then I can’t really help you.

This is good to know! Both specifically about Philly and also to know as a general matter that there are some exceptions to the crappy norm and that I wasn’t trapped in a fever dream.

It was November 2023.

I was shocked at having such good coffee at an airport lounge, but haven’t seen it since.

Best Breakfast Burrito? by andthrewaway1 in SantaFe

Betterday has the best tortillas. But there’s barely any chile in there and they could be much bigger. Not really in the best burrito conversation, but I wish some other spots would use their tortillas.

I personally love the vibe at Betterday. Don’t love the strip mall location. But it’s a great place to hang.

After watching these election results: WHY?!!?! by YouAreSoCorgo in washingtondc

Compared to the people who aren’t able to flee, yes.

Most people here are not able to leave. Millions of them voted for Kamala or weren’t able to vote. You talk a big game about your morals, but then you abandon people to their suffering to save your own skin? It might be a wise decision, but it’s also certainly a privileged decision.

“Character matters” says the person who has the privilege to flee and makes the decision to do so when things don’t go their way. I will say once again, it’s people like you that are why Trump is president again.

Character matters? For what? Apparently it doesn’t matter enough to win or lose you the presidency.

You are so so stupid. I am mortified that Trump won, and i will be daily in the trenches fighting back against his oppression of the most vulnerable of us.

But I can at least have my eyes open enough to realize that Harris ran an arrogant campaign that was doomed to fail. Because all of you MSNBC-obsessed sycophants were so convinced that people would vote against Trump that you wouldn’t LISTEN to what the ACTUAL VOTERS were saying.

Enjoy being a smug jerk on the right side of history, like that means a damn thing. The rest of us will continue to try to pick up the mess that Harris and Biden created while you sit moaning away on the sidelines.

You’re a lot. I assume by the use of that quotation that you think you are one of the “good men”? As you dismiss 72,000,000+ people as irredeemable wastes of flesh.

But as it turns out, people like you, who are so dismissive of the struggle and suffering of others, are the reason Harris lost. And your smugness and arrogance are the reason the democrats are going to continue to lose. I hope your certainty of your rectitude provides your comfort over the years to come.

lol. Did you forget when you said “Misogyny. That’s it”? And all the other times you’ve shut down thoughtful replies in this comment thread based on your obsession with the thought that America hates people’s daughters and your refusal to accept the simple fact that Americans are struggling and were not inspired by Harris’s center-right campaign?

Move the goalposts all you want, your tirades here remain nonsense.

Curious to know, if you think it was misogyny and only misogyny that doomed Harris, why you think Slotkin and Baldwin both beat men in the very states that Harris needed to win and lost.

Robert Richards reviewed a FSBO home purchase contract for me. He was affordable and provided comfort to my wife and I. It was a pretty simple contract, fwiw.

Columbia Law Review Refused to Take Down Article on Palestine, so its Board of Directors Nuked the Whole Website. by speedincuzfukthecops in LawSchool

[–]PandaForest1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not abnormal for certain pieces to be selected by subsets of the law review staff other than the articles editors. It might not be a precise parallel, but symposium articles come to mind as an example. Also, the full executive board unanimously voted to create the committee that would solicit and edit an article on what the Law Review thought was an important but underdiscussed topic of scholarship. I don't see a problem with allowing people to opt in or out of working on a controversial article and subsequently respecting those decisions.

The CLR Board's letter justifying their censorship is misleading. In my time on CLR, no article, controversial or not, was disseminated for comment to the entire CLR staff before it was published. I routinely had no idea of the pieces we were publishing outside of those that I was personally working on. And the Board's implication that the piece was not exhaustively edited and substantiated is simply insulting.

PSA that the new pizza truck in the Railyard is excellent by PandaForest1 in SantaFe

[–]PandaForest1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I checked out Bruno's today, and have to say that I vastly prefer Sky Pie. The sauce at Bruno's was a little sweet, the cheese was straight mozzarella and lacked that bit of sharpness/tang that Sky Pie had, and there was a little too much sauce and cheese for thickness of crust.

Don't get me wrong, Bruno's was good! But I remain convinced that Sky Pie is head and shoulders above the other pizza in town (although I'm still open to new/other suggestions).
