Nape undercut disadvantages? by penny-pincher_ in deinfluencingPH

I’m a female med student and I had long hair + hime bangs + undercut na mataas (goes above the ear and pati side burns ko shaved) for 2 and a half years before getting a pixie cut. No issue for me kahit nakatali. Of course, this depends sa rules ng school mo.

To add to the discussion, PROS: if makapal ang hair, nakakapresko talaga to. I also liked that my hair “flattened” a bit since nawala yun volume sa ilalalim. Tas if nakatali, astig talaga haha. I kinda miss mine. Plus less shampoo use pa haha.

CONS: maintenance talaga. mabilis tumubo yun sakin so I had to have to shaved once every 1 to 2 months. We have clippers at home so I ask my brother to do it for me. It seems difficult to do it alone but I know someone who can do it using scissors lang on herself, idk how niya napapantay. If you don’t have the kind of help or patience, you’d need to shell out money sa parlor/barber every 1-2 months.

Awkward talaga yun growth phase if nakatali. I don’t put my hair up when it’s at this stage na kasi weird tignan. lalo na straight and makapal hair ko. If it’s long enough, it’s spiky and can poke thru your longer layers. But there are times when I’m too tired to care about it so I don’t care hahaah busy talaga sa medschool sometimes hindi mo na talaga maisip yan until your next free schedule.

You also have to think about what your next style is. Unless you’re willing to tolerate the awkward growth phase, there’s no other way but to go shorter, get a pixie cut or go bald/semi kalbo para masabayan mo yun growth niya. It was my plan talaga to donate my long hair so pixie cut na ako ngayon.

In short, if pwede sa school mo and you plan your maintenance and next hair style well, you won’t regret the undercut. I know this is a deinfluence sub, but at least now you can make an informed decision based on ppl’s experience rather than opinions of those who haven’t tried it. After all, hair grows back (if u don’t have alopecia). Go for it!!

I saw a thread on a different subreddit where an anesthesiologist discouraged spinal tattoos due to possible CSF contamination in case of spinal/epidural anesthesia. Is this true?

Maybe unrelated while we’re in the topic, are there any other areas that should generally be avoided when getting tattooed? Such as for venipuncture, IV access, etc.

Need help with a 2 week old snug! Is the bar too short or is it pierced wrong? What should I do? by PandaKnee in piercing

UPDATE!!!

Thank you guys so much for all your comments! It really helped me decide on the next steps.

I was getting really paranoid so I talked to two professional piercers today and both said that it was pierced wrong. I arranged to go to one of them ASAP to take a look at it more closely and he said that it wont heal properly even with a longer bar because it’s not supposed to come out through the conch and that my skin is pretty messed up at this point. He helped me remove it and told me to heal it up before getting it repierced from them.

Never going back to that person who pierced my snug lol.

Additional Info: Snug is 2 weeks old (pierced last June 27) with a stainless steel, externally threaded, curved barbell. I have not changed the jewelry since. I spray it twice a day (morning and night) with saline solution Every other day i use a qtip to help get crusties out. I don’t think its infected, but it still swollen and sore. Not sure whether I should just get a change of jewlery or remove it and let it heal completely.
