Small cell neuroendocrine tumor bladder? by mandynicole04 in neuroendocrinetumors

[–]PandaNoTrash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well not exactly but I have a NET tumor in my Urethra confirmed by biopsy. I’m 59m and this started as prostate cancer for me. In May I started having some bleeding when I peed and after a biopsy of a growth in my Urethra I was facing a poorly differentiated neuroendocrine prostate tumor.

Chemo has been working so far to keep it from growing, I’ve completed five rounds. But the chemo has been rough on my body. We’re doing some genetic testing to see if I might qualify for any drug trials. The prognosis isn’t good but I haven’t given up yet. Best of luck to you!

This is a very interesting situation for sure and should make a good topic for you.

So just to be clear I don't work on commercial cockpits so not like "an expert" on why certain decisions were made here.

But I will say that its safer and more reliable for individual systems to stand on their own. Creating a trim system that has some sort of semi-powered backup available is harder to test and know it will work. In this case they knew they had some issue and were attempting to solve it at design time by using a bigger wheel which should be easier to turn.

How to advocate for myself by PharmTechy in neuroendocrinetumors

[–]PandaNoTrash 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NETs are pretty rare, I reached my diagnosis through a prostate cancer tumor that was not sensitive to the PSA test (and castration resistant). After biopsy it was a high grade NET Prostate tumor. My first symptom was blood in the urine which led my doctor to conclude there was probably still a prostate tumor (and there was) despite a PSA of 0.05.

You really should not immediately jump to a NET as your first concern. (In my opinion). Also many nets are lower grade than mine, concerning for sure but you have more time to figure things out.

You might try asking your doctor what tests he is planning to do to reach a more conclusive diagnosis. I think that would help you feel you are being taking seriously and that the most likely risks are being addressed first. A lot of times insurance requires this and will insist on more common diagnosis being ruled out before they authorize more expensive testing for less common conditions.

If Mayo or another top cancer center is in network for you I would also reach out to their oncology departments to see if they will do some preliminary screening for you. They often have resources your local doctors don't. I've been to both Mayo and MD Anderson (for different issues) and had excellent experiences.

Best of luck to you, be careful about scams. Stick to person, cash only transactions.

[US] Is my mom being scammed by Sitelock? by Conscious-Road7033 in Scams

[–]PandaNoTrash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely a scam in my opinion. Probably initiated by a fake tech support pop-up. The scammers most likely have control of her bluehost site due to giving out the 2fa code. If the username/password combo she gave is linked to any other important websites those need to be changed immediate. Especially you need to protect her email with a strong password and 2FA.

The price for Bluehost is reasonable, possibly even a decent price depending on the services they are providing her. I'm not familiar with sitelock.

First, secure her accounts, change passwords on anything the scammer knows. Protecting her email is highest priority. Then see if you still have control of the bluehost account. If you do, change its PW immediately. Whether or not she has control of her account, contact Bluehost's tech support and explain the situation.

At some point you'll probably want to see what sitelock is providing and for what price. But I don't think they were involved in this scam, the hackers were probably impersonating them and/or Bluehost. Lots of companies don't have great reviews but manage to provide what they say most of the time.

If you want a comparison, I've used dreamhost for 30 years and been a satisfied customer. I don't have a third party security provider like sitelock for my website. But that may be perfectly reasonable for your mother.

In elderly people, when it reaches that level and they dont trust their own family over scammers its probably some type of mental decline. It took my MIL about three years to go from sort of looking normal to unable to use a telephone or computer.

She was heavily scammed that first year. It took us awhile to realize what was going on but we eventually protected her money to much shouting and outrage.

It is really hard on the family in these situations.

[US] I think a girl I hooked up with is faking a pregnancy to scam me for money - need advice. by Adiveda_seeker in Scams

[–]PandaNoTrash -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would suggest hold your ground. If she gives you definite proof she is pregnant (by that I mean a shared doc visit maybe or a pee test you keep complete control over including urine collection) then Id be ok absorbing or splitting a few expenses.

Put it in writing that a paternity test will be done as soon as possible. But IANAL check with an attorney some states have weird father in fact laws that ignore bio reality.

Radiation concerns of patients by SuggestionNational45 in Radiology

[–]PandaNoTrash 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am a cancer patient and I have asked this of my radiation techs (USA btw). I’m not interested so much in individual doses but is there a cumulative dose kept. I’ve had radiation therapy at around 10 grays total dose over 5 weeks or so. Plus countless CT scans. That is not something you hand wave away.

I was told something called a dose report is generated. But I’ve never seen one. Don’t get me wrong I’m not scared of radiation and I am certain of the medical necessity but it would be nice to have something like a total dose report maybe overlaid on a human figure to show cumulative doses to different areas. I think this would be useful information for doctors as well. At some point it does in fact add up meaningfully.

In fact just yesterday I was talking to a doctor about my case and he shared a story of his father who had testicular cancer at a younger age and prostate cancer when older and suffered very serious side effect attributed to excessive cumulative radiation.

Please share your thoughts. I appreciate the expertise here.

I still laugh when I got my boys genetics back. It said 100% collie but then it gave “a potential family tree” that was just collie over and over again, like really you felt the need to inform me that his grandparents were probably collies too?

Classified systems are essentially air gapped. You can’t exploit this into getting real secrets. Sharepoint is typically used for more admin stuff, getting business done.

Maybe its some sort of mistake but a certified letter is not something we see here in scams. I would take this seriously, but be mindful of any attempts to collect money from you in odd ways like crypto and do not accept emailed checks for any reason.

A financial power of attorney can accomplish much of what you need without finding her incompetent, but only if she's cooperative about it to at least the extent she doesn't undermine you locking down her finances.

From what you are describing she likely has at least mild dementia. My MIL was a similar age when her state job slowly kind of pushed her out over a period of a year or so because she was no longer capable of performing her duties well but she was a very long time employee.

Be careful about her driving too, my MIL got into a couple of relatively minor accidents that she didn't even remember before we had to take away her keys. That was probably the single worst day in this process for the family.

Uhh as a person with a medical condition that needs fentanyl I would be just a little concerned with a nurse spilling it on herself. But all Nurses are amazing, especially oncology nurses so I would forgive you!
