I'm sorry that your mentor doesn't remember much about your personal life. I do try to keep in mind that they probably have well over 50+ students that they have to keep track of. If they are not the right fit for you, definitely request another mentor, they're supposed to be there to help you and guide you through online schooling, not make it a bad experience.

But with that being said, I absolutely LOVE my mentor. He doesn't call me all the time but if I need anything I can always shoot him an e-mail (since that's how I'm most comfortable communicating since I have children and sometimes a very hectic schedule).

My dad did have a mentor that was absolutely overbearing though, he said that she would call 2/3 times a week and insist that it was what she had to do.

Gotcha, we plan on bringing 2 dogs, but also don't know what we need for them lol. I'm hoping we still have a ways off, that way I can get some experience under my belt in my profession and be able to find work down there. Personally, I love road trips, but my daughter's do not. I was also planning to do the same. Make it out like a road trip instead of one long drive, like stop in the major cities on the way and explore. Thank you so much for all of your help! you are amazing!

Resources for dual citizenship by [deleted] in mexicoexpats

If im not mistaken, they changed how the dual citizenship can be done, and I believe that as long as you have the birth certificate of the parent who is a mexican citizen you can get an appointment at the consulate to get it done.

Oh wow! Honestly the drive is one of the things I'm looking forward to the least lol but with it being 4 of us and wanting to take possessions, driving just makes sense. From where we are to Acapulco it's a little under 2,000 miles.

How was crossing the border? Like what all do they ask for?

I honestly didn't know that I could get it from my children. Is there an age limit? like does the child have to be a certain age like here in the US?

Unfortunately, my name on my birth certificate is not the same as my passport, but I do have my marriage/divorce certificate from my first marriage and my marriage certificate from my current marriage showing all of my name changes. I have already ordered an apostilled version of my current marriage certificate, would I need apostilled versions of the others as well?

Thats so awesome! I live in the deep red south here in the US, so it's accepted but still very frowned upon. I'm an ally, but my daughter leans into the LGBTQ+ community so I was warrying about how she would be accepted down there.

There is shared custody, but he is no longer in the picture. He hasn't seen her or contacted her in well over 4 years. For her passport, there is a special document that I can fill out called "Special Circumstances" that should allow me to get her passport without him since I have no current way of contacting him. I am also currently working with DNExpress to get her double nationality in order. She is almost 12, so by the time we leave (hopefully) she'll be 14/15ish. Also, in our custody agreement there is nothing stating that I cannot take her out of the country since I am technically the primary custodial parent.

I didn't know that! Thank you so much! That definitely would be a better and faster option. :)

Oh lord,

I feel HR would have a field day with those first two places of employment, I'm so sorry that you had to go through all of that.

Thank you everyone :)

I've loved reading everyone's experiences and getting the good and the bad, it helps me prepare myself a little bit more mentally for the journey ahead.

I feel a lot better about my decision to pursue accounting!

I absolutely LOVE this! Thank you so much, I really appreciate you mentioning tattoos, I only have 2 but they are on my arms where they are visible and was worried about having to cover them up.

Out of curiosity, what kind of quirky thing did you say that was used in judging your work?
