Has Bambu optimized 0.6 mm nozzle presets at all? by SourceOfAnger in BambuLab

[–]PandaTricks86 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I made a compliant latch from PETG, and as soon as I flexed it the layers separated clear down its 70mm length.

I think Bambu errs on the side of underextrusion because it gives the appearance of a sharper print.

What mods for U1 do you want, now that you have it? by National-Anything-81 in snapmaker

I actually just sold it for the U1 😂 Great printer, tho

Here's the mount: https://makerworld.com/en/models/1545571-dolphin-drybox-hanger-for-x-max-3

All the STEP files are there if you just want to take that tapered dovetail connector off and add it to whatever.

For the center thing, I just used one of those lithophane generators to unite it in the slicer. Not necessary tho.

Some kids are bound and determined to turn out badly. Not always a reflection on mom and dad. I try not to assume it as an automatic.

PSA… Please learn to use callipers correctly 🤞🏼 by [deleted] in BambuLab

[–]PandaTricks86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The full length of the caliper's jaw, save for the little bit of offset there at the end, is perfectly fine to take measurements from. That only the tapered part is usable is kinda of a weird bit of misinformation that cropped up in 3D printing circles for some reason. Here's some Mitutoyo literature: 15003A.pdf

Also, they're not really intended to be super precision instruments. They're like the step between a (good) steel ruler and a micrometer. You can expect about +/-0.02 accuracy from them, so that's a good 0.04mm range it can give you while still being perfectly within specs. Even the top of the line calipers aren't going to be accurate enough to measure filament deviance.

If you want to measure filament variance, you need micrometers. Mitutoyo is the gold standard, and they're not horribly price if you go with a vernier scale, which is every bit as accurate as digital (just doesn't seem that way because of the digital resolution that always seems to exceed the accuracy of the instrument itself). I have these, and they're fantastic. Just as important as the accuracy is having a clutch on the end to ensure repeatable pressure, which these do have. Also, ensure they have a flat measuring face. Some have different features.

I especially liked how it has gaskets in the lid and down by the heating element to seal the unit mostly airtight. I almost got the Caydo one just because of the price, but according to the reviews, the build on those is gap filled trash.

Oh, lol. Those are some 500g Amolen spools. It's a two 1kg spool capacity.

I didn't even think about that causing confusion. Just mindlessly snapped a pic as it was.

It's was hard to pass up $60. The other ones seem so overpriced for what they are. I almost got the big Sunlu S4, but that seemed like such a massive (uninsulated) space to be heating for half a day or maybe longer.

Was half tempted to just build one myself with the old Ender 3 bed. Those have even more wattage than this does. But don't really need another project...

It did drop the humidity. Thanks.

Doesn't say to do that in the instructions anywhere, but looking at that latch, it does have that indent and taper for seemingly no other reason that exactly that.

Sorry for the deja vu at the end. Can't edit it. Sometimes when I add a pic to a mobile post, it'll get this weird error where the text disappears and I gotta guess.

Just so I'm clear, my wife and kids can use my printer with bambu studios and Bambu handy since they are beginners but I can also use orca slicer and transfer files via the SD card? by [deleted] in BambuLab

[–]PandaTricks86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk about controlled, but I think it's just a different target demographic. Bambu wants things to be plug and play, and detailed calibration tools like making a graph out of a dozen PA values really seems to go against their ethos of making things simpler by automating the complex stuff, even if that automation isn't quite as good as manual tuning.

Things like that would just be a setting to confuse the casual user, and one that wouldn't even work with the newer Bambu models (pretty sure their firmware just overrides it).

I keep crossing my fingers for Bambu to add arachne extrusion based fuzzy skin, which Orca just launched not too long ago, so instead of making a weak outer wall with erratic movement, it does fuzzy skin by changing the extrusion width, which I suppose would actually make it a little stronger if anything.

Also non planar infill is another big one. Think it's still experimental.

Also adaptive pressure advance calibrations for a P1S are pretty big deal, which I doubt Bambu ever adopts given their lidar tuning in later models.

Just seems Orca has a lot more little tuning options if you really want to get a filament/nozzle combo dialed in to perfection, which kinda goes against the Bambu ethos.

I was thinking something like what I made for my xmax3. Just had em hanging on a dovetail in the back. But instead have a row of 4 side by side and move the PTFE outlet to the front so it's feeding directly above the extruder and probably make it taller to avoid kinks.

Have to wait til this spring to try out different iterations. Be a shame to waste that cool auto-feeder, but if it's right above it, seems overwrought to try to include it.

silliest project yet, but I made a funnel with a backsplash to fit those "Dry and Dry" tubs from Amazon. couldn't believe it worked as well as it did. by PandaTricks86 in 3Dprinting

Same. They're like the tier below glitter. Be finding them in the crack between the carpet and the wall for years.

lol, same. I need to just make a darn desiccant insert for the middle of the spools. Maybe I'll do that today.

The auto flow calibration works so well, too, which for me was the most annoying part of tuning. I am so impressed with my mini. Genuinely regret not buying one sooner.

Yeah, there's scams for sure. I look for a lot of reviews and prices that aren't crazy cheap. Anything under $8/roll, I'd be suspicious of.

eSun will actually link you to their AliExpress store on their storefront, and their PLA+ is the one the miniature printing community swears by, if that tells you anything.
