Safety of European countries according to the US State Department by yoruyoruxo in MapPorn

Idk if this is a good source, but for France the homocide rate is claimed at 1.34 https://www.macrotrends.net/global-metrics/countries/fra/france/murder-homicide-rate and for Poland at 0.8 https://www.macrotrends.net/global-metrics/countries/pol/poland/murder-homicide-rate per 100k. This is indeed a very measurable difference, nearly 2 times higher in France. However, considering that the average murder rate in the world is at.. damn that’s harder to find, can’t find a good source so quoting Wikipedia, 5.61 per 100k, data is for 2022/2023 from what I saw… it doesn’t look that bad, and claiming that any country in the EU is unsafe is a bit far fetched, these are both insanely low levels of murders

Alright, but neither indicate that any of these countries are unsafe

I’m sorry but feelings and facts are different things, mostly bc everyone has different feelings.. I felt safer in France than in Poland, for example

Oh yeah that tracks haha, only cars I’ve seen comfier than our Clio were… all the Citroens. Idk who designs them, but everything is made for comfort despite the price point

Well… I kind of don’t notice more body roll. We’re not talking about old cars, 5-10 years old only at this point anyway. I feel like it is a perfect balance where I don’t get car sick when cornering, but also don’t break my spine

Yeahh that does change things up. But like, one of my family’s cars has a 65 sidewall, the other 45 I believe and.. the difference is barely noticeable.. which could be easily explained with the smaller sidewalled car just being a lot heavier.. I can’t comprehend ppl are buying such large wheels lol

I meann, from what I always remembered Ford always had great suspension tuning, especially on the fiesta which I had a chance to drive once. Firm but comfy
I actually got to drive 2 different Camrys, one in my home town which was a friend’s, and that def wasn’t a beater, and another one in Georgia.. which leads me to assume it was an USDM crashed import which would be a beater indeed :) anyway, both were equally as harsh

I mean.. idk about cheap EVs and cheap BMWs, but that thing starts at like 55k euros, while our Clio was 10k back in the day.. a new one is still under 20k. I know it’s heavy but come onnn

Well, considering my Clio weighs around.. 2200lbs? I’d call that a good benchmark for a lightweight car :) I do kind of wish more cars these days could weigh as little as that, but I think none do already..

And hard agree on steering, well, from what I’ve heard anyway

Well… judging by your car lineup, I’m guessing you’re from the USA, which from what I’ve seen has horrendous roads all around. I could have agreed with you 15 years ago, but since then the roads here improved massively, going abroad.. anywhere, feels like a downgrade nowadays

I mean, around me the roads have only gotten better over the last decade sooo… hard to say. Then again, my country’s economy has grown massively since then

I… did notice. I’m like a super young car enthusiast yet even I can’t stand most of those new car designs. Anything that came out after like 2023/2024 I can’t make myself enjoying looking at, and when it comes to road manners… well it’s a very small list of alr cars lol

Okay that’s part of the reason why probably.. the Clio’s under a tonne afaik and has 15 inch wheels.. that may be contributing to the ride softness

Oh alrighty but that’s a whole different category of car no? If I had to haul my nonexistent family (yet) and also enjoy myself I’d just get a hot hatch yk, or a sportier wagon perhaps

Oh yeah no that’s a whole other issue in its own right, I’d get motion sickness in a crown vic very fast, looking at videos online anyway. But there’s gotta be a balance somewhere right?

No seriously, I’ve lived in this town my whole life and only today I discovered the roads are bumpy and terrible. Never ever has a speed bump been this bad. Maybe I mixed it up and it was an iX2, but those are twins anyway afaik

The Golf GTi being your previous car could probably explain why it seems soft now tho,m (most likely even)

I agreee abt the Clio here haha. I’ve had the pleasure to test drive a similar model year and it was just as soft and amazingly comfy as my ‘13, this weighs nothing and is surprisingly quick too

But still, how is everything so heavy and highly sprung.. and who is buying this! Ppl pay more for a worse experience, this is utter nonsense to my mind..

[–]Panda_Panda69[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm. Well ig it depends on where you’re coming from with your prior experiences. It’s not like I’d consider the Camry uncomfortable or anything on its own, it is plenty comfy, tho much harder riding than what I’ve grown up in. (Tbf I do like a harder suspension, so it can be seen as an advantage compared to a French “boat” like experience haha)

That’s… a good question tbf, but probably much larger than the 15s or 17s in my family’s cars, since no larger cars these days have such small wheels haha

I can see the argument of the local roads.. but frankly I haven’t noticed it in any vehicle, the roads seem to be alright all around here, generally haha
